Social and Club Activities Emma Jean Lawrence—Phone 2206 Martin-Eberth Nuptials in Las Vegas, Nevada The Gretna Green Wedding chapel, Los Vegas, was the scene last Saturday, for the wedding of Miss June Rose Martin, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. D. Martin, 7932 Court st., Buena Park, and Alfred (Hap) C. Eberth, son of Mrs. Anna Eberth, of Santa Ana. The bride chose as her wedding ensemble, a grey suit, with which she wore red accessories. She is a graduate of Buena Park schools, Fullerton high school, and Johnson’s Business college, Santa Ana. She plans to continue working at the Frank Tausch Insurance agency, Anaheim, where she has been employed for the past four years. Mr. Eberth was in the Army Air Force for four years, two of which were spent overseas in the European theatre of operations. He is employed by Herbert Bryant of Los Angeles, and was formerly with the Merrifield Trucking company of this city. Following a few days honeymoon, the couple is now at home at 10811 W. La Palma, Anaheim. POLITICAL ADVERTISEMENT — SHATTUCK LEADS RACKET FIGHT In cooperation with local law enforcement groups, Edward S. Margaret Buttree Presents Students In Piano Recital Piano students of the Margaret Buttree Studio of Music were presented in a recital last Wednesday evening at the Ebell clubhouse. This is the first of a series of three recitals. A large audience attended. The first part of the program was by students of the 5th through the 8th grades, as follows: “Norwegian Dance,” Grieg, by Ann Thomason and Barbara Bircher; “Military Parade,” Bilbro, by Donald and John Kohlenberger; “Elfin Dance,” Grieg, and “Butterfly,” Wright, by Ann Marie Stehly and Sharon Ross; “Vale of Song,” Rolfe, by Stewart Congdon and John Goodrich; “La Zingana,” Bohm, by Barbara Bircher and Judith Ann Lemcke; “Romance,” Sibelius, Jim Pearson; “Country Gardens,” Grainger, by Ann Kennedy; “Waltz,” Levitski, by Ann Betts and Jim Pearson. High school students presented part two, as follows: “Hungarian Rhapsody No. 6,” Liszt, by Robert Lyons; “To Spring,” Grieg, by Anna Lou Daly; “Spoon River,” Grainger, by Genevieve Bradley; “Scherzo” from “Midsummer Night's Dream,” Mendelssohn, by Marjorie Cranston and Frances Cowee; “Prelude in C Sharp Minor,” Rachmaninoff, by Craig Bottger; “Rondo Capriccioso,” Mendelssohn, by Carolyn Erickson; “Concert Etude,” MacDowell, by Marilyn Schimming; “Black Key and Butterfly Etudes,” Chopin, and “Jamaican Rumba,” Benjamin, by Genevieve Bradley and Robert Lyons; “False in A Flat,” Chopin, by Marjorie Cranston; “Lady Moon,” Edwards, and “May, the Maiden,” Carpenter, by Joan Spencer, soprano. “Blue Danube,” Strauss-Evler-Chasin, by Carolyn Erickson and Connie Vaughn. Dr. Barney Katz, will speak on "Child Psychology," at the next meeting of the Anaheim Junior Ebell club, June 6. Installation of new officers will also take place with Mrs. Ken Hellyer, as installing officer. Broadway, who will celebrate his birthday on June 4. Mr. E. P. Barnum left Tuesday evening on the Santa Fe for several weeks vacation, his first stop being the Nash factory at Kenosha, Wis., where he will take delivery on a new car. He will drive to Peru, Ind., for a visit with his two brothers. From there he plans a trip to inspect the Tennessee Valley Authority, then a week at Hot Springs, Ark., and on to his new home at 819 Kenway Drive in Anaheim. The Women's Auxiliary of St. Michael's Episcopal Church, met in the parish house, yesterday, for an all day session with Mrs. K. A. Patrick, as hostess. The time was spent in cutting and sewing, and was the last regular meeting before the summer vacation. The following weeks will be devoted to work for the Fall Festival and Christmas philanthropies. A birthday cake and cards marked the approaching birthdays of two of the members, Mrs. Eva Boyd, president, and Mrs. Patrick. The teachers of the Olive elementary school, in Olive, entertained the trustees of their school, last night, with a theater party. The party included: Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hight, Mr. and Mrs. La Verne Schaner, Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Lemke, all of Olive; Mr. and Mrs William Hoxie, Jr., of Denver. The Wintersburg Grange meet tonight at the Odd Fellows hall in Westminster. This meeting is open to the public, and will begin with a potluck supper at 6:30.Mrs O.G.Lompe, of Anaheim, Master announces that the program will feature Spanish dancers, in costume. Mr. and Mrs. Martin Talset, 500 N.Claudina st, returned yesterday from a five weeks motor trip through 22 states. Almost 800 miles of travel, included the following points of interest: Niagara Falls, Boston, Mt.Vernon, Annapolis, Washington, D.C., the Smoky Mountain area in Tennessee, Ozark mountains in Missouri, and Denver. They encountered rain in Kansas, cold and dampness in the Eastern state sun and showers in Kentucky and Tennessee, and snow above Denver. The WCTU will meet in the White Temple Church, Fidele room, at 2:00 p.m., on June 6. Zion Lutheran School Adds New Classroom In order to accommodate most of the students who annually apply for enrollment, the Zion Lutheran School has added fourth classroom Richard Heusen, of Tracy, California and graduate of Concordia Teacher College, Seward, Nebraska, he been asked to serve as teacher. ODLE PLEADS NOT GUILTY John C. Odle, Santa Ana mason charged with the murder of a wife, Arville, at the Louis Dale Stationery store in downtown Santa Ana, May 6, today pleaded not guilty by reason At Crystal Shower Miss Joan Guss, bride-to-be, was honored at a crystal shower, last Wednesday night, given by Mrs. Paul Edington, of Fullerton, at the home of her mother, Mrs. Amanda Read, 812 W. Broadway, Anaheim. Decorations and refreshments were in colors of yellow and green, the class colors of the honoree, hostess, and many of the guests. Guests who attended the shower, were: Mrs. Joseph Guss, of San Clemente, mother of Joan; Miss Kay Wilson of Los Angeles, Miss Virginia Hartman, Long Beach; Mrs. Marie H. Young, mother of the groom-elect; Mrs. Alan Young, Mrs. Cecil Lewis, Mrs. Cardie Argabright and Mrs. Traveris Cushman, all of Anaheim. Cruz-Sandoval Wedding Ceremony Held at Placentia One of the pretty weddings which took place recently, was that of Miss Irma Cruz and Manuel Sandoval, at a Nuptial Mass in St. Joseph’s church in Placentia. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Luis Cruz, and Manuel is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Modesto Sandoval, all of Placentia. Mr. Sandoval is employed by the J. C. Penny Company of this city, and Mrs. Sandoval plans to return to her position with the Fullerton General hospital, at a later date. Included on the program is a ceremony which will culminate with the burning of the bank note, indicating that the church is free of all indebtedness. Odle, Santa Ana m charged with the murder of wife, Arville, at the Louis Da Stationery store in downtown Santa Ana, May 6, today pleaded guilty, and not guilty by reason insanity when arraigned before Superior Judge Raymond Thomson. His trial was set for July in Judge Robert Gardner’s court. The court will appoint psychiatrists to examine the defendant advance of the trial and make their report to the court. MORE TOLL ROADS CHICAGO (P) — Pay-as-you-drive highway systems are growing. The American Public Works Association reports that nearly 300 miles of toll roads now are use in Connecticut, Maine, New York and Pennsylvania. Doors will open at 7:15 p.m. and admission will be free. Designed to entertain, the program will consist of sacred selections; hits for musical shows, "Oklahoma!" "Carousel," and "South Pacific;" and folk songs in special arrangements. Classical selections will be played by two well-known student artists, Larry King, organist and Regina Zirkelback, violinist. Organizations represented on the program will include the A. Cappella choir, the male chorus, the Singing Hornets, the mixed octette. Program is under the direction of Donald S.
