For the first time in years the figure was down—five per cent under 1948—due to generally lower prices for farm products. Livestock and dairy items make up 35 per cent of the total, or $397,000,000. Field crops account for 26 percent, or $297,000,000. Cotton and cottonseed totaled $124,000,000; oranges $101,700,000; eggs $76,200,000.
