Featuring election to the district board of representatives from various districts in the county, the first annual South Orange County YMCA program council meeting was held Monday at Mar Casa, Presbyterian conference house, Balboa Island. Elected as Anaheim representatives were Paul Bakenhaus, Paul Demaree, M. A. Gauer, Dr. Ed Jordt, Jim Morris, Ted Payne, Mrs. Marion Pickel and Wilbert Bonney. Fullerton Plant Nixes CIO in Close Election In a National Labor Relations Board election held at the Fullerton plant of the Balboa Pacific Corporation today, the plant employees voted 66 to 60 against Local 576, United Furniture Workers, as their bargaining agent. In a statement made following the official count of the votes, Charles E. Ferguson, executive vice-president of the company, said: "The employees were presented with plain facts about leadership in Local 576, and they acted accordingly." A west coast manufacturer of tubular metal furniture, Balboa Pacific employs 142 people in the plant. The company has recently achieved wide-spread notice on the Pacific Coast for its introduction of copper-coated metal furniture in addition to its regular line of chromed tubular metal furniture.
