MOTHERS HONORED—The retail division of the Chamber of Commerce presented Anaheim's oldest and youngest mothers and the mother with the largest family with electrical appliance gifts last Friday at the luncheon meeting of the Lions Club. Receiving gifts are: Mrs. J. W. Heinz (left-center) of 1224 N. Palm from Oscar Solter, chairman of the retail division and Mrs. Lavanita Leep (right-center), 86 years, of 217 S. Clementine, from Joe Critchfield, president of the Lions Club. Youngest mother was Dorothy Guerrera, 600½ Cypress st., 15 years, who was not present for the presentation. Mrs. Heinz is the mother of 15 children and Mrs. Leep has six children. The winning mothers had registered in a contest held last Wednesday in conjunction with Civic Progress Week.

B-PW Council New President
Miss E. Fern Stewart of Fullerton, was installed as president of the County Council of Business and Professional Women, when the combined clubs of Orange county met Friday night in Fullerton.
Special guests for the evening were Mrs. Mildred McPherson, Encinitas, incoming Southern District president, and Mrs. Inez Bertmann, Orange, out-going president of the district.
Plans were made for the Southern district meeting to be held at Neumort Beach on July 16.

New President

Miss Stewart appointed Mrs. Dorothy Rigley of the Fullerton Junior Club, to serve as her secretary.

Wesley Methodist Honors Mothers
Mothers were honored Friday evening at a mother and daughter banquet held at Wesley Methodist church.
The 6:30 dinner was prepared and served by men of the Service class under the direction of Hugh Nipp, president; Charles Davis and the Rev. Daniel Miller.
Following the meal, a tribute to mothers was given by Miss Pat Brooks, representing the daughters present, in which she extolled the merits of mother and the deep appreciation always felt for her but perhaps seldom expressed. She concluded with the reading of "The Mother's Hymn" by William Cullen Bryant.
Mrs. Hugh Nipp, mistress of ceremonies for the evening, responded on behalf of the mothers and read a poem which had been composed by Mrs. Richard Wise to her mother, Mrs. M. M. McConnell. Mrs. Nipp then called for selection of the oldest mother present and Mrs. Alice Bouas, 87, was presented with a gardenia corsage. Little Miss Susan Nelson, seven, also received a gift for being the youngest daughter present.
A period of community singing of "songs mother used to know" was led by Mrs. Cliff Elliott with Mrs. Margaret Shoemaker at the Rev. Frank Butterworth, spoke of the adult movement, as being one in which all churches are participating.
A poem, "Who is my neighbor", was read by Mrs. Melissa Hauswald.
Hostesses for the refreshment period which followed, were Mrs. George Tedrick, Mrs. T. W. B. Demarcee, Mrs. J. Burman and Mrs. Hugh Hudson.
Members present were, the Rev. Butterworth, Mr. and Mrs. J. Burman, Mr. and Mrs. J. Fisher, Mrs. Gielbreth, Mrs. Demarcee, Mrs. Maude Hunt, Mrs. Myrtle Campbell, Mrs. Louise Murray, Mrs. Frank Miller, Mrs. Hauswald, Mrs. Guy Holman, Sr., Mrs. Hudson, Mrs. Verna Riner, and Mrs. Tedrick.
The club will meet hereafter on the first Friday of each month, at 2:30 p.m. in the church parlor.
Party Given Anne Lindgren
Mr. and Mrs. Carl H. Lindgren, 10735 Ball rd., entertained young friends of their daughter, Anne, on the occasion of her eleventh birthday, May 11.
A large "carrousel cake" was the center of attraction at the dinner which preceded an evening of television. The guests remained ber party” and breakfast the next morning.
Joining in the festivities were Kathryn Walker, Maxine Merrill, Erma Leigh, Mary Louise Cowley, Janice Gwaltney, all of Anchel and Patty Hickanson of Los Beach.
O.E.S. Forms New 'Esther' Association
An “Esther” association was recently formed in Orange county when Esters from districts 77 and 78 met at the home of Ms. Mae Campbell, 1506 N. Olive Santa Ana, for a 12:30 luncheon.
The new organization has been named "The Queen Esther Association of Orange county" O.E.S.
Officers, for the remainder of this year, were elected as follows:
Mrs. Alice Fox, Hermosa chapter; Santa Ana, president; Mrs. Pete Wagoner, Chispa chapter; Anchel, vice-president; and Ms. Norma Wickersham, Scepter chapter; Orange, secretary-treasurer.
Charter members present at the organization meeting, were Ms. Mae Campbell, Santa Ana chapter; Mrs. Catherine Seiler, Brea chapter; Mrs. Ruth Calkins, Seal Beach chapter; Mrs. Norma Wickersham Scepter chapter; Mrs. Alice Fox Hermosa chapter; and Mrs. Pete Wagoner, Chispa chapter.
A luncheon meeting will be held at Carey’s restaurant, Santa Ana on May 20, at which time plans for monthly dinner or lunch meetings will be discussed.
Orange county Esters will not be notified by mail regarding monthly meetings and hostesses for each month.
Family picnics have been planned for the months of July and August, at La Palma park and Irvine parks Hostesses to be free...

Mr. and Mrs. Carl H. Lindgren,
10735 Ball rd., entertained young friends of their daughter, Anne, on the occasion of her eleventh birthday, May 11.

St. Boniface P-TA Elects Officers
Mrs. Don May was presented as new president of St. Boniface P-TA at its regular meeting Friday. Named to serve with her were Mrs. Carl Rau, vice-president; Mrs. Warren Doller, secretary; Mrs. Gerald Endicott, treasurer; Mrs. Harold Mack, financial secretary; Mrs. R. Merrick, historian; Mrs. Ude Bauer, auditor, and Mrs. John Shea, Parliamentarian.
Mrs. Merrick made the report of the nominating committee in the absence of its chairman, Mrs. William Bushman. Names presented were voted into office unanimously by the members.
The afternoon opened with a dessert served by first grade mothers, Mrs. George Tokar, chairman. A musical program was given by students of Miss June Carter of the school. Students participating were Kathleen and Judy Dugan, Barry Roberts, Anne Marie Karcher, and Diane Palm.
Father David Coleman conducted a question box during his part in the afternoon's proceedings. Sister M. Alma, principal, recounted a letter from the Catholic school archdiocesan headquarters.
During the business meeting presided over by Mrs. Peter Schmitz, Mrs. Endicott reported on the recent purchase of a jungle gymnasium and stated that a May

During the business meeting presided over by Mrs. Peter Schmitz, Mrs. Endicott reported on the recent purchase of a jungle gymnasium and stated that a May carnival scheduled for May 17, to finance this project, has been postponed until fall.
Announcements included scheduling of the June 4 meeting for installation of officers with fourth grade mothers in charge of hospitality. May 18 and 30 are school holidays. May 21 is date for First Communion, with breakfast to be on Monday morning instead of Sunday as heretofore.
Hot dog sale under the auspices of officers of the P-TA will be held May 25, with a meeting scheduled for directly afterwards to discuss revision of the by-laws.
Mrs. Schmitz thanked all committees which helped to make the recent Deanery meeting held in Anaheim a huge success. Sister Monica's room won the award for attendance at this meeting.
Older Adult Club
Formed by Church
A new organization, The Older Adults club, of the White Temple Methodist Church, was formed Friday afternoon, May 12, when the older members of the congregation met in the church parlor.
Mrs. Eleanor Gielbreth presided at the meeting.
Mrs. George Tedrick gave a short report on the three day convention held in March, at the Methodist Church at Monrovia. She emphasized the topic "What older adults can do for the church and what the church might do for older adults."
Magnolia P-TA Honors Mrs. Martin
Mrs. Lawrence Martin, retiring president of the Magnolia P-TA was guest of honor at a luncheon held at the Mother Colony House, last Thursday.
Honoring Mrs. Martin, were Mrs. Frank Cushing, Mrs. Jack Kissell, Mrs. Cleo Mossman, Mrs.
Milton Taylor, Mrs. J. E. Goulke, Mrs. Fred Winters, Mrs. Richard Albrecht, Mrs. Otto Trapp, Mrs. Alex Justus, Mrs. Doris Kirk and Mrs. Clyde Morris.
Extending their best wishes, but unable to attend, were Mrs. Norman Cave and Mrs. Ed Cook.
Mrs. Martin was presented with many gifts in appreciation of her past leadership.
