Social and Club Activities Emma Jean Lawrence—Phone 2206 90-YEAR OLD ANAHEIM LADY, Mrs. Mary Goble, of 316 E. Broadway, has simple formula for easy living. For Relaxed Living -- Don't Carry Your Years -- Let 'Em Carry You Why carry the weight of your years? Let your years 90-YEAR OLD ANAHEIM LADY, Mrs. Mary Goble, of 316 E. Broadway, has simple formula for easy living. For Relaxed Living -- Don't Carry Your Years -- Let 'Em Carry You Why carry the weight of your years? Let your years carry you! This is the sound but simple formula for relaxed living adopted by Mrs. Mary Goble of 316 E. Broadway who celebrated her 90th birthday last December 26. This charming and petite mother of three; grandmother of 12 and great-grandmother of another 12, just lets the world go hurriedly by while she observes its sometimes silly pace from the vantage point of her rocking chair and garden at her home where she has lived for the past 46 years. Her husband, the late Lamont Goble, who passed away in 1935 was for years a janitor at the La Palma school and other grammar schools in the city. Her son, Elton S., now residing in Victorville was at one time a printer's devil in the shops of the Anaheim Gazette—back in the day's of Ah Foo—the never to be forgotten Chinaman. Three Sons Mrs. Goble has three sons living—Roland of Redlands, Elton S. and Wayne of Los Angeles. The Goble's came to Anaheim from Texas in 1903 and made their home at 316 E. Broadway. Mrs. Goble was born in Iowa and went with her family to Texas in 1874 and was married there three years later. Although she regards herself as "just a stay-at-home girl", Mrs. Goble just doesn't sit around. Aside from keeping posted on the international and national scene, she has revived the long-since forgotten art of quilt making. And not in a peddling fashion either! For just recently she completed her 12th—and she's only been at it since November 1948. Mrs. Goble is a charter member of the Woman's relief Corp in Anaheim and was recently presented with a 25-year pin. "You know, one day someone asked me how I carried my years," said Mrs. Goble. "I replied that I didn't carry my years—just one at a time. But then I thought bit and decided I wasn't going to carry any ole year—not even one. Instead I'd let it carry me." That's what the lady said. And after talking with her yesterday afternoon, I think she has something—in fact, its just about the best darned philosophy I've ever heard. —Bob Funseth Katella School P-TL Board Schedule Events The Parent-Teachers League of the Katella school, held a meeting of old and new board members, on Wednesday.
