'El Don' Gets All-American Honor Rating "All American Honor Rating" was awarded to the "El Don" weekly publication of Santa Ana College by the National Scholastic Indiana has about 51 miles frontage on Lake Michigan. 'El Don' Gets All-American Honor Rating "All American Honor Rating" was awarded to the "El Don" weekly publication of Santa Ana College by the National Scholastic Press Association of the University of Minnesota for the editions published during the fall semester. The award was the 17th all American rating that the newspaper has received in the past 19 years. Since 1936 the "El Don" has been awarded 14 consecutive "All American" awards for outstanding journalistic achievement from the critical service. Editorial staff for the fall semester included: Hall Caldwell of Anahcim, managing editor; Pat Johnson, of Santa Ana, associate editor; Jane Lindemuth of Garden Grove, feature editor; Dean Gautschy of Anaheim, sports editor; Jim Gant of Costa Mesa, advertising, and Bill Dominguez of Santa Ana, photographer. Faculty adviser for the paper is Carl Venström, college journalism instructor. Home Magazine of the Air Features TV The Alpha Beta Food Markets, Inc., who operate two Super Food Centers in Anaheim, and a total of 22 Super Food Markets thruout Southern California, in keeping with their established policy of superior service to their hundreds of thousands of customers, recently expanded this policy thru the presentation of a typical home television program, currently being telecast over KTTV, channel 11, Thursday evenings at 8:30-9:00 p.m., entitled "The Alpha Beta Home Magazine of the Air." Home owners are most enthusiastic over this telecast, especially those who are beautifying, and developing their yards, and those contemplating changes in their home exteriors and interiors, or planning to soon build a new home. This telecast features a well known radio, stage and screen actor, Olan Soule, who even tho he has spent 24 years in the show and his WESTERN DANCE GANG! Mr. Soule appeared for five years in the feature role of the radio show, "The Little Theater Off Times Square", a coast to coast CBS feature. He also starred in the NBC network show, "Grand Marquee", and the CBS show, "Bachelors Children". Since coming to Los Angeles, Mr. Soule has appeared in 10 motion pictures, and several TV shows. Announcement was made at the Parlor's regular meeting, Tuesday night, at the Mother Colony House. President Harold Ries presided. Main tasks at the Chico meet will be to elect state officers for the NSGW, Schwacofer stated. Schwacofer is editor of the Grizzly Bear, official publication of the NSGW and the Native Daughters of the Golden West. Clark Smith reported that Alex-Pelous night, honoring the Parlor's past president and celebrating at the same time, the group's seventh birthday, will be conducted May 25 at the Mother Colony. Time is 7 p.m. This is also the regular ladies' night. Speaker will be Glenn Curtis of Brea. Curtis will describe his experiences in South America. He will place emphasis on Ecuador which he visited during the recent earthquake. Mention was made, night, of the California nic, slated this year for 6%. The affair is designated native Californians.
