To Honor Pupils
Plans for honoring sixth grade pupils and their parents at the next meeting of the Benjamin Franklin P-TA Thursday evening, May 18, at 7:30, were made when the old and new members of the executive board met Tuesday evening.
Mrs. Arthur Korn, president, reported on the highlights at the California Congress of Parents and Teachers convention at Santa Cruz recently—the theme for this year was "What Heritage for Our Children."
The president read the following list of committee chairmen which were accepted by the board: art and decoration, Mrs. Robert Berryman; budget and finance, Mrs. Godfrey Herbel; conservation and thrift, Mrs. George Dierberger; Cub Scouts, Mrs. Ed Drickell; character and spiritual education, Mrs. L. M. Lichtenwalter; legislation, Mrs. Richard Wise, magazine and publications, Mrs. Elmer Peters.

Homemaking Is Meeting Theme
Nearly 150 homemakers from all parts of this county attended the Orange County Home Demonstration day, which was presented by the Agricultural Extension service in conjunction with the Orange County Farm Bureau, at the Ebell clubhouse, Wednesday morning, May 10.
This was a day of recognition for project leaders. Women who had made skirts, both sport and western style, displayed their handwork this morning. Anne Girod, home adviser, discussed the shirt school which had been held this spring. A demonstration of salad making was given by two 4-H girls, Betty Elliott and Joyce Everett, of Orange.
A picnic lunch was held in Anaheim City park.

John Cupp, of Long Beach, formerly of Anaheim, has fully recovered from his recent surgery at St. Josephs Hospital, in Orange.
Mrs. Vearl C. Royer, 617 S. Dickel st., had the misfortune to fall on her kitchen floor, early Saturday morning. She broke and badly dislocated her elbow. After being treated at a Santa Ana hospital, she was returned to her home where she is convalescing.
Mr. and Mrs. Horace Woods, 604 S. Helena st., entertained Mrs. Wood's mother, Mrs. Maud Hughes on the occasion of her 82nd birthday, May 7. At Mrs. Hughes request, the day was
"Song of People' Next Production At Padua Hills"
"Cancion del Pueblo," translated as "Song of the People," a play with a musical background will be the next production of the Mexican Players at the Padua Hills Theatre.
The new play will have a festive opening on May 17, following the close of "En el Mes de Mayo." Annual Springtime play, to have its final performances on Saturday.
"Cancion del Pueblo" is an original creation by Director Charlie A. Dickinson, designed to tell the romantic, turbulent and joyous story of Mexico through the song of its people.
The play will be given in three parts, each with an individual song

The play will be given in three parts, each with an individual song typical of a period in Mexican history as its theme. They will include the Diaz regime; the revolution as represented by Panchita Villa; and Mexico of today, with its background of romance.
Elaborate scenic settings reflecting the historical significance and gay costumes, of the three periods are promised for the production.
"Cancion del Pueblo" will be staged Wednesday through Saturday evenings and Saturday afternoons, through July 1, with a merienda or after theatre party, following the opening.
Birthday Party For Kay Landes
Ernest M. Landes gave a birthday party for his young daughter Kay Ann, Thursday, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Dugan, 41 W. Broadway, Anaheim.
The outdoor patio of the Dugan home was prettily decorated for the occasion.
Members of Kay's Brown Troop joined her in celebrating the day. The young guests were Judy Dugan, Anne Marie Karcher, Carol Ann Lehr, Jayne McIlroyer, Judy McKool, Judy Penzchen Schneider, Judy Ray Peggy Shinn, Christine Siewer and Katherine Spire.
Mrs. George McKool and Mr Joseph Siewerd assisted Mrs. Dugan with the hostess duties.

The Mother and Daughter banquet was held last night, at the Church of Christ, Broadway and Helena sts.

Church of Christ
The Mother and Daughter banquet was held last night, at the Church of Christ, Broadway and Helena sts.
A delicious ham dinner, with all the trimmings, was prepared under the supervision of Everett Granere, assisted by Eddie Baker, Jack Leigh and George Schwab. Serving was done by the men of the church.
The tables were beautifully decorated in pastel shaded favors, candles and flowers. Decorating committee were members of the Christian Service class, Sigma Club, with Mrs. Mary Pickard chairman, assisted by Mrs. P. Mills, Mrs. Josephine Gaerti and Mrs. Marie McCleland.
Members of the Keystone clan and the Christian Service class were hostesses for the evening.
Mrs. Elaine Henry, program chairman, presented Mrs. Op Walter, in a solo, "Mother;" Mr. Arlene Foster gave a reading "Tribute to Mother." Miss La Mae Casebeer sang "Wonderful Mother of Mine;" accompanied Miss Olsen at the piano.
A comedy hat show was neared on the program. Mrs. Lucile Lichtenwalter, narrator, wearied a "button and beaux" creation presented the "Keystone Comeback Kuties," Mrs. Florence Carroz Mrs. Elaine Henry, Mrs. Arlene Foster, Mrs. Lillian Leigh, Ms. Lois Kirk and Mrs. Jean Alden.
Miss Nancy Barthlemes played several accordion numbers, and youngsters from the primary age beginners' classes sang a song their mothers. Miss Betty Leiland Miss Jerry Homan presented several Ukulele numbers. Miss Schilling was pianist accompany for the evening.
The evening was brought to close with a prayer and a solemn "Brahm's Lullaby," by Mrs. Op Walker.

Mrs. B. M. Slater, of Omaha, is visiting her sister, Mrs. Frank Cook, 869 S. Lemon st. Mrs. Slater plans to return to her home in Omaha, some time next week.
Mr. Frank Cook, 869 S. Lemon st., underwent major surgery at the Fullerton General hospital, this morning.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Mason and daughter Pamela, 304 E. Wilhelmina st., have just returned from a 10 day vacation trip to Sacramento.
Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Holland, of Laguna Beach, formerly of this city, visited Miss Lena V. Rowe, 208 S. Claudina, Wednesday afternoon.
Miss Nelda Schumacher, 717 N. Clementine st., and a party of friends from Southern California, spent the weekend visiting at Ensenada, Mexico, where they attended the Newport-Ensenada International yacht races. They later attended the trophy dinner at the Riviera de Pacifico, at which awards were presented to the competing yachtsmen.
Elsie Spaulding, Vivian Waite, Hannah Horwitz, Mildred Fitz are attending the Rebekah assembly at Long Beach, this week, as delegates from the Lois Rebekah Lodge of Anaheim tend the graduation of Cadet Thomas F. O'Brien, son of Mr. and Mrs. O'Brien, on May 12. Upon graduation, he will be a lieutenant, Williams Air Force Base, Class 50, B. He is a graduate of AUHS, Fullerton J.C., and New Mexico University.
Marywood Auxiliary has completed plans for an evening card party, to be held Thursday, May 25, at 8 o'clock, in the social hall of Marywood school, 407 W. Broadway. Proceeds will be used for the scholarship fund.
Mrs. Hatfield Is P-TA President at George Washington
Mrs. S. E. Loard, P-TA council president, installed the new officers of the George Washington P-TA last night in a beautiful candle light ceremony held in the school auditorium.
As each officer was installed, she lighted a large candle in the candelabra which centered the flower decorated table. Children of the installees lighted small candles, after being instructed to "help mother with her duties at home, so that mother will have more time for P-TA work."
Officers installed are, Mrs. Carl Hatfield, president; Mrs. Opal Fanless, vice-president; Mrs. Ray Link, secretary; Mrs. Max White, treasurer; Mrs. Walter Meade, historian; Mr. V. O. Elliot, auditor and Mrs. R. L. Burgess, parliamentarian.
Mrs. Hatfield presented the past-president's pin to Mrs. Jean Bourne.

Medical Women Hear Talk on Swedish Medicine
The Woman's Auxiliary to the Orange County Medical Association met Tuesday afternoon, May 9, at the home of Mrs. J. B. Price 2009 N. Baker, Santa Ana. Informal meeting was held in Ms Price's garden. Guest speaker on the day was Dr. G. Wendell Olson of Fullerton whose subject was "Medicine in Sweden." Dr. Olson and his family spent several months in Sweden in 1947 when he gained first hand knowledge of medicine in that country.
Mrs. Carl J. Paul of Orange membership chairman introduced new member, Mrs. George Hawkins of Santa Ana.
Announcement was made that the State Auxiliary Convention held in San Diego May first, Ms Lewellyn Wilson of Anaheim was elected first vice president for State of California Medical Auxiliary; and Mrs. Arthur Niesen Orange was re-elected treasurer for the State Medical Auxiliary Auxiliary.

Renshaw of Santa Ana was elected first vice president; Ms Arthur E. Alne of Fullerton was elected second vice president; Ms John Wilcox of Ananeim was elected corresponding secretary; Ms Samuel Weaver of Santa Ana was elected recording secretary; Ms Ardath Wightman of Laguna Beach was re-elected treasurer.

A rag drive will be held May 15 through May 19.
Refreshments were served by the sixth grade room mothers, under the direction of Mrs. George Winters and Mrs. Koepher.

Chapter B.P. of the PEO Sisterhood, held a meeting last night, at the home of Mrs. William Grafton Jr., in La Habra Heights.
Mrs. Henry Adams and Mrs.
William Grafton Sr., were co-hostesses.
After a delicious luncheon and the business meeting, Mrs. H. D.Newkirk gave a very fine summary of modern and old poems.
The state convention of the PEO sisterhood will be held in Oakland, May 17, 18 and 19. Chapter B.P.president, Mrs. Harry Peterson, and Chapter L.T.president, Mrs. Max Meisner will attend.
