Social and Club Activities Emma Jean Lawrence—Phone 2206 Organize Two Junior Hi-Y Clubs for Eighth Grade Girls at Fremont School Two Junior Tri-Hi-Y Clubs for 3th grade girls have recently been organized at Fremont School, and plans for the remainder of the year as well as summer activities have been completed, according to Mrs. Nan Moore, Girl's Work Secretary of the YMCA, under whose supervision these new clubs will operate. So far the girls are known as the "Afternoon Jr. Tri-Hi-Y" and the "Evening Jr. Tri-Hi-Y." Names for their clubs will be chosen in the near future. The groups meet each Monday afternoon or evening, at the Church of Christ, Broadway at Helena. Temporary Officers Temporary officers have been chosen, and have been busy planning their calendar of events. Both clubs have enjoyed a swimming party at the high school plunge. The evening club has been formally inducted into membership, girls of the Sophomore Tri-Hi-Y presiding at the ceremony. Officers for the evening group include Mary Lou Casebeer, president; Pat Santi, vice-president; Yvonne Fits, secretary; Mary Sue Dunne, treas.; Charlyn Schmidt, Sgt. at arms; and Ann Betts, worship chairman. Afternoon club officers are Carol Kirk, president; Donna DeLeske, vice-president; Dorothy Addy, secretary: Marilyn Hempshall, treasurer; Bobbie Downs, worship chairman, and Donna Lynn Stuard, Bonnie Friis, Mary Jean Starr, Mildred Harling, Joan Spencer, Holly Fitz, LaVonne Hettshusan, Pat Jones, Janet Parra, Eloise Bieffeld, Janice Schamp and Phyllis Rogers. Unable to attend were Carol Ried, Catharine Lucas and Mary Whitney. Members of the women's board attending included Mrs. W. E. Whiteman, Mrs. A. Dayton Smith, Mrs. Harry Nutt, Mrs. Charles Pannier, Mrs. Tommy Thomason, Mrs. Harwood Larson, Mrs. Willian Llewellyn, Mrs. Harry Fox, Mrs. Al Casebeer, Mrs. Roma Ryan, Mrs. John A. Wood, Mrs. Maybelle Spencer and Mrs. Warren Ashleigh. C. H. Lawrences Are Honored on 25th Anniversary Friends and relatives of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Lawrence. 820 South Philadelphia street, honored them Sunday afternoon with a surprise party celebrating the couple's Senior Tri-Hi-Y Honored at Formal Reception One of the loveliest events of the graduating season was the recent formal reception honoring the Tri-Hi-Y girls of the Senior Class, given by the Women's Advisory Board of the YMCA. The spacious home of Mrs. John A. Wood, on East Santa Ana street was the setting for the festivities, and was made lovely with spring flowers, roses, and soft candlelight. Both the hostesses and the honorees were dressed in pastel formal gowns, adding to the beauty and dignity of the evening. Mrs. W. E. Whiteman, president of the woman’s board greeted the girls, and commended them for their loyalty to the high ideals of Tri-Hi-Y throughout the years of their high school life, and expressed her hope that their connection with YMCA would continue on the college campus or in whatever C. The original miniature bride and groom were again used to top the wedding cake. The table was centered by a beautiful wedding bouquet of white roses, similar to that carried by Mrs. Lawrence 25 years ago. Guests congratulating the honorees, were Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Verdieck, Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Hust, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Herzog, and daughters, all of Los Angeles; Mr. Henry Verdieck of El Centro, Mr. and Mrs. John Cupp of Long Beach, Mr. and Mrs. Glen C. Goodnoe, of South Pasadena; Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Svogar, and Mr. and Mrs. Herman Stoffel and family, of Anaheim. During the afternoon, messages and gifts were received from those who were unable to attend, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Verdieck and family of Denver; Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence D. Bowman of Long Beach; Mrs. Sophie Peters of San Diego; Mrs. Margaret O'Hara, Mrs. Gladys Allens and Miss Mary Elzy, of Los Angeles. Mrs. Dahlman on Trip to Germany Mrs. Louise Dahlman, 14611 Olive road, who left last night by plane for a three month trip to Europe, was recently honored by two going-away parties. Wednesday evening, her niece, Mrs. Helen Clark, entertained at a family dinner. Members of the Anaheim Garden club gave a surprise shower at Mrs. Dahlman’s home. Sunday evening, at which time they presented her with many practical gifts for her trip. Mrs. Dahlman expects to arrive in Ireland, May 10, leaving the same day for Hamburg, Germany, where she will be met by her husband’s brother, Mr. L. "Eight Men of Song" Program for the evening was presented by Mr. George W. Burt of the Fullerton high school and junior college music department, who introduced his "Eight Men of Song," their accompanist and master of ceremonies. They included Roger McCandless and Charles Daugherty, tenors; Wesley Reed and Tommy Conners, 2nd tenors; Jack Allbright and Walter Redapth, baritones, and Delbert Elloitt and Wayne Clark, bass. Their master of ceremonies was Jim Dwinell, and accompanist, Warren Pee. The boys sang two groups of numbers, interspersed by piano specialities presented by their accompanist. Impromptu selections were presented later informally, during the refreshment period. The tea table was beautiful with a centerpiece of roses and candle-light. Ladies of the woman's board poured. Senior girls attending included Pat Berry, Jackie Whiteman, Beverly Curtis, Betty Jo Simmons, Betty Slems, Carol Hochuli, Eleanor Schearer, Della Horn, Genevieve Kirk, Jewel Walker, Wednesday evening, her niece, Mrs. Helen Clark, entertained at a family dinner. Doris De Witt Is Honored at Nuptial Shower Miss Doris De Witt, Anaheim. was the honoree at a pre-nuptial miscellaneous shower, Sunday morning, given by Mrs. Rollie Parker of this city, and Mrs. Monte Montgomery, at the Montgomery home in Garden Grove. The gift table was centered by a large maypole, with streamers cleverly arranged over the gifts. Refreshments were served on coffee trays, upon which individual old fashioned bouquets had been placed. Guests who honored Miss De Witt were, Miss Joan Jackson, Miss Betty Simms, Miss Joan Ball, Mrs. De Witt and daughters Joan and Paula, Miss Marilyn Gorham, Mrs. Ben Frances, Miss Bette Palomares, Miss Jennie Monnig, Mrs. Orlo Fast, Mrs. Vera Palomares, all of Anaheim, and Mrs. Andrew Saez of Orange. Miss De Witt's marriage to Philip Henry, of Fullerton, will take place May 27, at St. Boniface church. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. F. De Witt, 125 South West street. Personal Mention Rosewood Camp of Royal Neighbors entertained with a public card party this afternoon at the Veterans of Foreign Wars hall, 18 North Philadelphia. The old and new members of the executive board of the Benin Franklin PTA will meet at the home of Mrs. Marion Henry, 33 South Indiana street, tonight 7:30 p.m. The 51st annual convention of the California Congress of Parents and Teachers was held at Santa Cruz, May 3 through May 5. Local delegates who attended are: Mrs. Lee Rogers, representative from the 4th district; Mrs. S. E. Loard, representative from the Anaheim TA Council; Mrs. Carl Hatfield, George Washington PTA; Mrs. Ann Daniel, Horace Mann PTA; Ms. Arthur Korn, Benjamin Franklin PTA; and Mrs. George Golden, Anaheim Union high school PTA. Mrs. Frank Palomares and daughter, Betty, of 427 North Nass street, were pleasantly surprised last week when they received a visit from Mrs. Frank Baumgartner, of Cloverdale, Ore. Mrs. Baumgartner was formerly one Elimers, of Fullerton, and is former schoolmate of Betty Homares. Mrs. Robert S. Harvey, of 750 North Clementine street, is in Fullerton general hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Porta, 1229 Diamond street, entertained guests a picnic luncheon at Anaheim park, Sunday. Their guests are Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Carigan and Mr. and Mrs. John Hunsacker, Miss Elizabeth Lompe, of 319 South Claudina, is recovering at her home after an illness of several weeks. The 29th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Walter M. Rommel, 611 N. Claudina st., was Sunday, May 7. Mr. Rommel's5 brother and his wife are expected to arrive from Chicago in a week or two. An anniversary celebration has been postponed until after their arrival. Mr. and Mrs. F. C. Loehnig are now residing at 1221 E. Oak. They moved from 934 North Palm. Jarrett-Hopper Wedding in Yuma Miss Ranee Jarrett, daughter of Mrs. Annette Banks, of Garden Grove, and Mr. William John Hopper, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Hopper, 123 East Center street, Anaheim, married Sunday, at Gretna Green, in Yuma, Arizona. Mrs. Banks and Mr. and Mrs. Hopper accompanied the young couple and were present at the ceremony which took place in the wedding parlor. After returning from their honeymoon, Mr. and Mrs. Hopper plan to make their home in Tacoma, Washington.
