Despite all extravagant claims being made today, the chances are ten to one you’d have come out better in the Exchange.
5 reasons why
Exchange returns are higher
1. Lower sales cost. Last year the Exchange sales cost came to 10 7/10c per packed box. Compare that with your own assessment. In other marketing organizations a figure two to three times that high is the rule rather than the exception!
2. More for your fruit. Sunkist is by far the best known name in the entire field of fresh fruit and produce. Exchange fruit of all grades brings better prices; far more than enough to repay the advertising assessment.
3. Low cost supplies. In the Exchange, 223 packing houses buy their supplies through one affiliated organization, Fruit Growers Supply Company. Through the supply company, Exchange growers own their own timber, operate their own mills, get their shipping and field boxes at cost.
Each year Fruit Growers Supply Company refunds to Exchange houses the savings made possible by large scale producing and purchasing operations. The 1949 refund came to nearly one and one half million dollars.

To Observe Maundy Thursday
Members of the Temple choir of White Temple Methodist church will present the Requiem by Gabriel Faure, as the principal musical offering of the Easter season. The choir of fifty voices will sing under the direction of Miss Gania Demaree. The program, to be presented in the sanctuary of White Temple Methodist church, will be held on Maundy Thursday, April 6, at 8 p.m.
Guest soloists will be Virginia Claypool, soprano, and William Fackiner, baritone, with Virginia Sims Burk, organist, and Daniel Demaree, pianist playing the accompaniment.
Thursday evening will mark the first performance of the Faure Requiem in Anaheim. This major choral work has grown in popularity among the larger churches of Los Angeles since the performance of the Requiem by the massed choirs of that area under the direction of Robert Shaw some three years ago.
This composition is unique as a requiem. It was written to commemorate the death of the composer's father. Underlying the music is the faith of a man who faced death with a great confidence and feeling of tranquility. Of the many varied musical settings of this early church ritual one can say that none is more right than that of Gabriel Faure. Upon first hearing this work, one seems to be familiar or have already heard the melodies and harmonies of the Requiem. Such is the genius of Faure as a master craftsman and as an inspired composer.
The Temple choir has been preparing this program for several weeks, and are pleased to present such outstanding soloists. Virginia Calvary Baptist Easter Program Holy Thursday

"An Easter Adventure" is the theme of Easter Day program at 9:45 a.m. during the Sunday school period, given by the youth of the Sunday school and young people's department. The story is of a golden haired girl whose mother has gone on to heaven and is living with her father and aunt. She teaches the beautiful lesson of Easter with child-like simplicity. Being misunderstood by her aunt she runs away from home into the forest, coming to a lonely cabin finds an old man. Seeing little yellow fluffy chickens in the yard, she cries, "O, little Easter chickies." "Easter chickies?" grunted the old man. "Yes, Easter chickies, springtime," cried the little girl. It brought back memories of long ago to the old man. Yes, it had been a long time since he had thought of Easter, when he attended Sunday school in his boy-varied musical settings of this early church ritual one can say that none is more right than that of Gabriel Faure.
Virginia Glaypool, who is soprano soloist at the First Methodist of Pasadena, will be heard in the beautiful "Pie Jesu" movement. She was featured in a coast-to-coast radio broadcast last year during the Lenten season. Mr. William Fackiner, baritone, long noted among the larger churches in Los Angeles as well as our own community for his fine interpretation of church music, will sing the solo work in the "Libera Me," one of the most beautiful movements of the Requiem.
The parts which will be sung by the choir will include: "Introit and Kyrie" (Holy, Holy, Holy), "Pie Jesu" (Blessed Jesus), "Agnus Dei" (Lamb of God), "Libera Me" (Deliver Me), and "In Paradisum" (In Paradise).
The public is cordially invited to attend this beautiful candle-light musical worship service at 8 o'clock Maundy Thursday evening.
