Six Cars in Collision on S. Los Angeles Two automobile wrecks in close succession at the south limit of Anaheim Saturday evening injured five persons, one seriously, six vehicles were involved. Raymond Pittzer, 35, 10372 Zeyn street, Anaheim, and his wife, Irene, 28, both are in the county hospital, Mrs. Pittzer's condition being reported as serious. She suffered fractures of the jaws, lacerations of the face, and possible chest and head injuries. Manoah V. Maiden, Santa Ana, driver of another car, and his companion, Miss Selvina M. Vogel, also of Santa Ana, were the others injured. The three-car crash took place in the 800 block on South Los Angeles street when Maiden's car sideswiped a flatbed truck driven by Earl J. Harvey, 10402 South Dickel street, Anaheim, and then struck the Pittzer car. Red flares were placed on either side of the wreck to warn traffic, but Wayne R. Leigh, 39, himself a traffic patrolman, residing at 918 West Center, Anaheim, collided with a machine driven by Marcell Saymanski, Santa Ana, also involving a car driven by Jean Tantlinger Ebersole, 25, Santa Ana, at the wreck scene. Leigh was slightly injured. Book Review At Library Mary Greer Scarborough's monthly book review last Monday New Officers Named for Toastmasters At the regular meeting of Anaheim Toastmasters Monday evening when they met at La Palma Grill, the election of officers was held. Those to serve from April 1 to October 1 are: president, Kenneth Heuler; re-elected; vice-president, Louis Taylor; educational chairman, Aubrey Van Verst; secretary, Ed Wright; re-elected; sergeant-at-arms, Fred Rusch, and deputy governor, John Knutzen, re-elected. Old-timer's night will feature the meeting next week when the club will meet at the Mother Colony House restaurant, where they plan to meet in the future. Installation of officers will also be held at this meeting. An invitation is extended to all ex-toastmasters to attend. Entertainment for this meeting will be a surprise. Invocation was given by Carl Miller with Royal Marten handling the table topic on "Merchandising Practices." Toastmaster of the evening was C. O. Garshwiler. Timekeeper was Marion Pickel, grammarian, Louis Taylor and Royal Marten was evaluator. First speaker on the Monday evening program was Q. M. Ressler who spoke for seven minutes on "Good Government." John Knutzen, the second speaker, gave a most interesting and informative talk on "Political Facts." There will be no meeting of the local group on April 10, instead they will meet in Huntington Beach for the area speak-off. This will also be ladies night. Book Review At Library Mary Greer Scarborough's monthly book review last Monday morning at Anaheim Public Library included many of the best sellers of the past six weeks. General Lucius D. Clay's "Decision in Germany" and the timely information therein was greatly enjoyed. Another military viewpoint was reviewed with Brig. Gen. Frank Howley's "Berlin Command," thus giving the audience a complete picture of the situation in Germany. "All the Ships at Sea" by Williams J. Lederer and "Mr. Midshipman Hornblower" certainly covered the nautical side of the program. Also on the list were "Visibility Unlimited" by Dick Grace; "A Maine Man in the Making" by Franklin F. Gould and "A Few Flowers for Shiner" by Richard Llewellyn. John Hersey's new book, "The Wall" was gratefully received and enjoyed. "Debby" by Max Steele and "The Feast" by Margaret Kennedy concluded the review. Palm Sunday at St. Michael's St. Michael's Episcopal church will open Palm Sunday services at 8 o'clock in the morning with Holy Communion and blessing of the palm crosses. Palm Sunday church services at 11 a.m. will combine the junior and senior choirs for a palm processional and a choral communion service. Mrs. Bert Beard will sing a solo, "Holy City," after which the Rev. Saville's sermon will be "Hope That Looks Ahead."
