Walburg’s Greet Well-Wishers in Remodeled Shop Amid a bevy of floral offerings from well-wishers all over Orange county, Mr. and Mrs. Walburg greeted over 1300 visitors to their remodelled shop at their formal opening last Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Formerly known as Towne Toggery, the new shop is carrying the name of the owners, “Walburg's.” Mr. and Mrs. Walburg have been the owners of the shop for the past two years and until the recent rejuvenation carried both men’s and women’s clothing. They are now specializing in women's clothes; junior misses and women's sizes with special emphasis on the new popular half-sizes. The shop is tastefully decorated and gives an air of spaciousness and ease in which to peruse the large assortment of gowns, slacks, suits, coats, blouses, housecoats and hosiery. Every effort is being made to keep a well-stocked display on hand and frequent trips will be made by the buyers to the marts on the west coast and in the east. The front of the entire store has been remodeled with the window arrangement being in the modern manner with the glass the complete depth of the front, thus showing the interior of the store and the display models. The front arrangement has been built in an irregular contour, giving the greatest display space. The interior has been redecorated and new fixtures have been installed. Disability Benefits Figure $31,836.89 Benefits under the California Rocket Display Shown by VFW Display of a Russian suicide rocket ship in a large trailer in front of the J. C. Penney Co.'s store on West Center street, Monday, March 6, was sponsored by Anaheim Post No. 3173 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, according to Eric Turnbull, special VFW representative from Washington, D.C., in charge of the exhibit. Mr. Turnbull explained that the ship was powered by three rockets and was carried, complete with the pilot, on the belly of a larger plane until the target was sighted. The rocket was then released under its own power and zoomed to its target with a warhead packed with 500 pounds of high explosives, sufficient to destroy half of a city block. The rocket which was displayed in Laguna later in the week, was captured in Latvia, near the Russian border, by the Germans. It is a copy of the Japanese “baca” (fool) and served as a test weapon of the Russian government during the last war. February 7 of this year the school board accepted sealed bids of contractors, opened them and gave a public reading. A motion by the school board was unanimously carried to award the contract not later than March 9. Low bidder on the project at $200,950 was the firm of William Rohrvacher, 116 West Third street, Santa Ana. This figure was approximately $60,000 below that estimated by the architectural firm.
