Bruns' Brunch For Old High School Chums
Mr. and Mrs. L. L. Bruns of 8181 South Sunkist avenue, Anaheim, entertained at a "brunch" last Sunday for a group of friends that went through high school with them.
Present were: Mr. and Mrs. Carl Heryford, San Pedro; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Willard and their son, Harry, of Winters, California; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Gates of Fullerton; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Gates of Covina; Mr. and Mrs. Ward Welch of Santa Ana; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Jones and Mr. and Mrs. Herb Allen of Long Beach; Mr. and Mrs. Carpenter of Fullerton; Mr. and Mrs. Bruns' daughter and her family, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bradley and children dropped in later in the afternoon.
This was a memorable gathering as the men had played together on the baseball team in high school and some of them had not seen each other for forty years!
Girl Scout Leaders introduced included the Mesdames Barton, Meyers and Moore and they spoke briefly on the national attitude toward the proposed change, and the attitude of the troops and their leaders. Summarized briefly, the change appears to mean that the entire adult leadership elects the board of directors to transact its business, rather than that the council is entirely self-sustaining and independent as at present.
Following presentation of the various viewpoints, it was moved that a vote be taken on the proposed plan at the March meeting.
Open house at the new Girl Scout Little House will take place on Sunday, March 19, with the public invited to come see the newly acquired and redecorated premises of local Girl Scouts at 201 South Citron.
A total of 9600 boxes of Girl Scout cookies have come into this council area with all but 100 sold to date, it was reported. Mrs. F. N. DeCook reported on the Juliette Low international celebration on March 17 and stated that notices to parents concerning the origin and purpose of the day are available at the Little House to all troop leaders. First rehearsal is March 4 at Fremont auditorium, 1 p.m., with second rehearsal on March 11, 1 p.m., at the high school auditorium. Girls participating are required to attend both rehearsals so that the show may run smoothly on the evening of March 17.
Flags for the international project must be finished and turned in by February 28, and all Brownie troops are also required to turn in standards and poles by that date to Mrs. DeCook or the Little House. A total of 660 girls and 125 adult leaders are now actually registered from the Anaheim Councilessed this month by Cycles leaders.
