Anaheim Moves Into First Place Tie With Santa Ana
The Colonists left little doubt that they were THE team of the Sunset league as they drubbed the high-flying Santa Ana Saints 45-38 at the local peach basket emporium, Tuesday afternoon.
This gave Keith's men a first-place tie with the Santa Ana quintet and served as partial atonement for the defeat handed them during the first round by the Saints. That was a one point affair and came about when Hoskins tossed one in from mid-court as the gun went off.
Take No Chances
The locals were taking no chances of a repeat performance and maintained a margin throughout the game. In the fourth period it appeared as if the Saints might do it again as they pulled within one point. But successive buckets by Dub Helsing and Joe Bruce put out the fire as Anaheim went on to win, going away.
Hopkins left little doubt as to his ability as a sharpshooter, par excellence. Despite being covered close he got in for 18 points—just about half of his team's total. It gave him a 167 point total.
