Homecoming Big Success -- Team Wins; Queen Pretty; Dance Good
It was Alumni Night at Anaheim Union High School Friday and everything went the way that made them happy. The Colonists defeated the Downey Vikings; the queen was pretty and her attendants attractive; the buffet was ten times more ample and the dance was good.
They watched the game from a reserved section on the 50-yard line and welcomed with applause pretty Carol McDermott, as their first home-coming queen in the history of Anaheim, with her attractive attendants who were Jacqueline Whiteman, Dorothy Mejia, Jeanene Sanders and Bett Siems.
After the game they went to the study hall on the patio where a buffet supper was served them at one end of the dance floor while Bob Hayworth's nine piece orchestra played for their dancing from the other end.
There they met over heaping plates of chicken, ham, tuna, cheese, potato chips, olives, pickles, punch and coffee, old friends and former classmates. They danced until midnight in a blue and gold decorated room nostalgically reminiscent of younger days.
service clubs and community organization meetings in addition to high school assemblies.
Following tradition, they will combine with the girls' Mozart Choir for the Christmas presentation of "Gloria."

Change High School Forum To Tuesday
Forum night of the Adult Division Anaheim Union High School will be changed from Monday to Tuesday next week when James B. Pond brings his color movies to the high school auditorium. The meeting hour, 7:30 p.m., remains the same.
"Jamaica, Island of Contrasts" is the title of the lecturer's presentation which contains commentary as well as pictures.
Pond has appeared on many of the country's leading courses: National Geographic Society, popular tourist spots in the West Indies. Blessed with a superb climate, it is a land of contrasts, for in its high mountains one can find at will temperate zone conditions yet the island is lush and tropical. Its scenery is of breathtaking beauty; its people are friendly and colorful. Its British Colonial way of life charms everyone.
It has all the ingredients for a fascinating lecture.

AUHS Senior On Radio
He got it from among a thousand, did Jack Adams, Anaheim High School senior, when he was invited to appear on a radio program of Hi-Y delegates of southern California recently at the Hollywood "Y Day" in Los Angeles.
No one could have been more surprised than Jack who was asked in personal interview his opinions of southern California high schools in general and football in particular.
Art Linkletter, radio personality of the Southland, introduced Jack along with such screen personalities as Ronald Reagan, Jane Wyatt and Chill Wills.

Eager for a close up of their first queen, they invited the queen and her attendants to "look in on them" from the student dance across the campus in the gym. She did and they were pleased.
