Dorothy Pearson-Henry S. Dahl Exchange Vows in Garden Setting
Beneath a beautifully decorated archway of bronze-yellow chrysanthemums and maize shaded dahlias entwined with greenery set in an arrangement of woodwardia fern at the base, the garden wedding of Miss Dorothy Pearson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry B. Pearson of 518 North Lemon street, and Henry S. Dahl, son of Olaf M. Dahl of 811 West 109th street, Los Angeles, was witnessed last Friday evening by a large gathering of close friends and relatives. The Rev. Howard S. Congdon, pastor of the First Presbyterian church of this city, read the rites.
The isleway to the garden altar was marked with lighted tapers in tall candelabra engining the white carpet. Tall eucalyptus boughs were used as a hedging around the garden. Soft recorded music added to the solemnity of the setting as the young couple met at the altar for their exchange of vows.
The bride, given in marriage by her father, was lovely in a gown of beige-rose Chantilly lace fashioned in a ballerina length very full skirt; fitted bodice and three quarter length sleeves and accented with a brilliant rhinestone buckle at the waistline of her gown. Her small lace Dutch hat was of the matching colors. Waikiki chrysanthemums in the same shades as her gown were used in her cascade the yellow of their frocks were worn in their hair and they each carried a nosegay bouquet of bronze chrysanthemums.
Best man to the bridegroom was his brother, Norman Dahl, with the ushers being Bill Pearson, brother of the bride; Houston Kier, brother-in-law of the bride, and Wilbur Soderberg of Los Angeles.
The reception was held in the spacious home of Mr. and Mrs. Pearson, which was appointed with floral arrangements in autumn shades. The bride's table was lovely with its centerpiece of a beautifully decorated wedding cake and an arrangement of various types of white chrysanthemums flanked on either side by lighted tapers in silver candle holders. The young couple adhered to the traditional sharing of the first piece of cake, portending good luck as they travel the road beige-grey wool dress with a grey and white checked jacket completing her ensemble. A smart beret in grey beaver with a beige-rose feather, grey gloves and alligator bag and shoes made up her accessories. The completed ensemble was enhanced with an orchid corsage at the lapel of her jacket.
They plan to be away a week for a honeymoon after which they will reside in this city. Mr. Dahl is a graduate of S.C. and is presently employed with the Chrysler corporation at the Maywood plant.
Mexican Players Inaugurate Fall Season Oct. 19
“Festivales de California,” an elaborate program of the romantic music, songs and dances of the days of the dons, will inaugurate the fall season of the Mexican Players with a gala opening on October 19 at the Padua Hills Theatre.
The new production, really a glamorous fiesta of the era from the Spanish occupation to the Gay Nineties, will follow “La Cocina,” comedy of Tlaxcala, to have its final performances on Saturday.
For many years, the Mexican Players have opened their fall season with a production featuring the music, songs and dances of Old Mexico. The new offering will be the first to present the rhythmic diversions so dear to the hearts of the native sons of California.
The mantillas, towering combs, tight bodices and flowing skirts of the senoritas, and the flat-crowned hats, bolero jackets and embroidered trousers of the caballeros, will reflect the glamor of the great ranchos of earlier days.

Her small lace Dutch hat was of the matching colors. Waikiki chrysanthemums in the same shades as her gown were used in her cascade bridal bouquet. Matching mitts were worn with her gown. A sentimental accent, a treasured point lace handkerchief belonging to Mr. Pearson's mother was carried by the bride. This handkerchief was also carried by her sister, Mrs. Houshton Kier at her wedding.
Mrs. Kier, matron of honor, was gowned in a corded autumn-brown silk dress with a full skirt accented with insets of deep brown velvet and a fitted bodice. Her bouquet was a shower effect of yellow spider and bronze chrysanthemums tied with a burgundy satin ribbon bow.
Dressed in yellow dotted Swiss organdy frocks, the nieces of the bride, little Miss Pamela and Janet Kier were the flower girls. The frocks were fashioned with full skirts accented with insets of lace. Wide sashes were tied into bows at the back. Assisting in the hostess duties were Mrs. Horace Benjamin, Mrs. Joe Walter, Mrs. Oscar Heying, Mrs. Charles Harbeson and Mrs. Robert Harvey.
Mrs. Pearson, mother of the bride, chose a gown of heavy satin back crepe in brown and with it she wore an orchid corsage. Mrs. Carroll Stewart, aunt of the bride-groom, was dressed in a smart blue wool suit with which she also had an orchid corsage. Mrs. Stewart was also in the receiving line.
