Doris Arlene Fuchs-Harvey R. Nelson Exchange. Vows at St. Michael's Church
With the exchange of lovely golden wedding bands, Doris Arlene Fuchs, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl A. Fuchs of 823 North Zeyn street, and Harvey R. Nelson, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Nelson, became husband and wife in a beautifully simple ceremony performed Saturday evening, September 17, at St. Michael's Episcopal church, East Adele and Emily streets, Anaheim.
For the wedding ceremony, at which the Rev. John Kimball Saville officiated, yellow gladioli and burgundy oak leaves surrounded by graceful palm plants and lighted candelabra were used to decorate.
Escorted to the altar by her father, the bride wore a gown of heavy white satin fashioned with long pointed sleeves, net yokeline, a soft folded cuff accenting the waist and shoulders and a flowing skirt falling to a graceful train. The lovely fingertip lace inserted veil was held in place by a crown of clusters of orange blossoms. Beautiful and unusual was her bouquet made of white carnations centered with apricot shaded rosebuds and surrounded by blond oak leaves. As in the old tradition she wore something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue.
tight fitting bodice and a full overskirt of net. She carried a nosegay arrangement of yellow carnations and burgundy oak leaves and wore flowers in her hair.
Little Lora Lee Fuchs, youngest sister of the bride, acted as flower girl. She wore a gown of pale blue organdy with a hoop skirt and carried a bouquet, in miniature, of the maid of honor.
Brother of the bridegroom, Kenneth Nelson, acted as best man. Marvin and Ehrhardt Hartmann, close friends of the groom from Buena Park, served as ushers.
"Because," "Always" and the "Wedding March" by Lohengren were played at the organ by Miss Hazel Erickson.
St. Michael's parish house was the scene of the wedding reception. The bride's table was centered with a lovely four-tiered white wedding cake with a topping of a miniature bridal scene. The newville, Mrs. Kenneth Nelson and Miss Wanda Chambers assisted serving the guests.
For this occasion, the bride mother chose a smart navy blue suit dress with navy accessories. The bridegroom's mother wore grey suit complemented by green accessories. Both wore corsages yellow and white carnations.
As the young newlyweds left their honeymoon the new Ms. Nelson was wearing a cocoa fair long-sleeved, fitted dress. She wore it with a tan full skirt coat and brown accessories, as the roses from her bridal bouquet as her corsage.
On returning to Anaheim they will establish their home at North Lemon street.

Wives Entertain Doctor-Husbands At Beach Luau
Saturday, September 17, the doctors of Orange county were the guests of their wives at a Luau on the sand of the Laguna Beach and Tennis Club. Mrs. H. G. Wallace of Santa Ana was chairman of the committee in charge of the affair and was assisted by Mrs. Samuel Weaver, Mrs. Floyd Thompson, Mrs. A. J. Sheldon, Mrs. Fred Hunt, Mrs. Fred Hansen, Mrs. Joseph Preizler, all of Santa Ana, and Mrs. Arthur Alne of Fullerton.
Dinner was served from an enormous buffet of delicious food. The centerpiece for the buffet consisted of two large dolphins sculptured in ice. The guests were seated on the sand and ate from low tables in true Luau tradition.
After the feast many of the guests joined in square dancing on a floor set up for that purpose on the sand near the waters edge. Others gathered around a huge fire built in the sand for a songfest.
This Luau was the first social event of the year for the Orange County Medical Auxiliary and the occasion is always known as "husbands' night."
