Shirley Harling Exchanges Wedding Vows with Leland Henderson Sunday
Streamers and bows of white satin and a white runner down the aisle formed a path leading to the altar of the White Temple Methodist church where, on Sunday, August 21, Shirley Harling, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harold G. Harling of 401 North Janss street, became the bride of Leland B. Henderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. M. Henderson of 7191 South Euclid avenue, Fullerton. Baskets held arrangements of white gladiolus and with brightly lighted candles in tall candelabras used for decoration a lovely scene was set for the wedding ceremony which was performed by the Rev. Rollo Dunham.
Traditional in white, the bride's gown was fashioned with a bodice of chantilly lace, high round neckline and with tiny buttons down the back. The graceful taffeta skirt with its overskirt of dainty marquisette was caught at the waist by a sash which formed a bustle in the back. Her fingertip veil fell from a halo of pearls and orange blossoms. A white orchid centered in a spray arrangement of bouvardia and lily of the valley, was chosen for the bridal bouquet.
Following that sentimental custom of something old, new, borrowed and blue, the bride carried a lace handerchief which had belonged to her grandmother and borrowed her veil and halo from a friend. She wore a dainty blue garter and a strand of pearls were gifts from her maid of honour.
Orchid marquisette over the gowned the maid of honor dred Harling, sister of the Her dress was designed with high neckline, bertha collar, ted bodice and a full flounced She wore mitts of harmonica marquisette and carried a net of shaded pink asters with of the flowers in her hair.
Mr. Henderson was attending Leland Steward as best man Minder and Melvin Bentjen as ushers.
Favorite love songs of the couple were played as prelude to the ceremony with Marian at the organ. Soloist, Ray Holt sang, "I Love You," Promise Me" and "The Prayer."
At the reception following ceremony the bride's mother a floor length navy blue dress with a side drape and sleeves worn with elbow lace mitts of navy blue lace corsage was rose buds in a pink shade. The bridegroom wore a gown of crushed soft moss green shade, faced with a tucked bodice and with gold accents and a crown of yellow rosebuds.

Her dress was designed with a high neckline, bertha collar, a fitted bodice and a full flounced skirt. She wore mitts of harmonizing quisette and carried a nosegay shaded pink asters with a halo the flowers in her hair.
Mr. Henderson was attended by Island Steward as best man. Glen Under and Melvin Bentjen acted as pushers.
Favorite love songs of the young couple were played as preludes to the ceremony with Marian Pickel on the organ. Soloist, Raymond Old sang, "I Love You," "Oh,romise Me" and "The Lord'sayer."
At the reception following the ceremony the bride's mother wore floor length navy blue crepe with a side drape and cap sweets worn with elbow length rose mitts of navy blue lace. Her sage was rose buds in a deep pink shade. The bridegroom's mother wore a gown of crepe in soft moss green shade, fashioned with a tucked bodice and worn with gold accents and a corsage in yellow rosebuds.
A five-tiered wedding cake toped with a miniature couple stand-
lace arch centered the bride's table. Orange blossoms, greenry and crystal candelabras were used to decorate for the reception at which Mrs. Leland Stuard of Santa Barbara, cousin of the groom, and Mrs. Eleanor Bushy, a friend of the bride from Fontana, served the cake. Presiding at the punch bowl were the bride's friends, Miss Shirley Mass of Encinitas and Miss Marian Merrill of Anaheim. Also assisting in serving and hostess duties were Mrs. Edward Beard and Mrs. Don Vanderzyl, both of Riverside and Mrs. W. L. Hobro of Los Angeles, who are all auctions of the bride. Miss Ruth Demaree and Mrs. Russel Cariker, both friends of the bride from Anaheim, were in charge of the guest book.
The new Mrs. Henderson is a graduate of Anaheim Union high school and the University of Redlands where she was a member of the Spurs and the Beta Lambda Mu Sorority. The bridegroom attended Anaheim Union high school and graduated from Fullerton Junior College.
Albany, Oregon, is to be the couple's new home. Mr. Henderson will continue his studies at the Oregon State college, where he is a member of the Delta Sigma Phi under a heart-shaped fluted fraternity. His bride will teach in an elementary school in Albany.
Heart-Warming 'Corn Is Green,' Scores at Tustin
Emlyn Williams' heart-warming play, "The Corn Is Green," the story of the attempts of a spinster schoolmarm to educate the boy miners in a Welsh coal town, is the current offering at Holiday Stage.
Mary Finney, the first lady of the Tustin group plays the schoolteacher Miss Moffat—a role made famous by Ethel Barrymore in the Broadway production and by Bette Davis in the Hollywood film version.
It's a role well-suited for the capable Miss Finney who turns in a creditable performance. Extremely touching and most convincing is Don Garner’s portrayal of the boy who discovers a new world in books and learning.
His relating the inspiration received at Oxford when he at last is able to apply his tedious learning of the masters to his own life in reality is truly a gem of the theatre and a scene which will go down as one of the great dramatic moments of the 1949 season.
Versatile John Alvin scores as the aging John Goronwy Jones as does Delia Salvi as the hush searching Miss Ronberry.
In the completely satisfactory include: Peter Adams, Evan pern, Connie and Glenn Lois Rees Auer, Robert Victor Richards, Del Tenn Manuel Perez.
Top technical credits are Lillie Mae Barr for coach cast in speaking with a We cent. The play, the second season, was again uncompetent direction of H Warren assisted by technician Barry McGee. The sign was by E. Williard costumes were by Norman nes—BOB FUNSETH.

All Under Age 80 Eligible to Apply
Persons ages 1 to 80 are eligible to apply for registration under the Pierce Plan to eliminate funeral expenses. Those registering pay a few cents a day into the fund of an admitted legal insurer. In time of need, regardless of how little may have been paid in, the Plan pays the bill. For example, a complete funeral service was recently conducted when only $2.10 had been paid.
Any funeral director anywhere in the United States or Canada may be designated to perform the service. Recommended by leading mortuaries.
