During the month of June benefits amounting to $33,638.86 were received by people in Orange county area who were eligible to receive benefits under the California Department of Employment's disability insurance program, according to V. L. Hetzel, Long Beach district manager of the program.
"The average weekly benefit rate paid by the Long Beach office to individuals unable to perform their usual and customary work is $22.79," said Hetzel. "The weekly benefits range from $10 to $25 and they are based on the highest amount of wages paid to the worker in any quarter of his base period. The 'base period' is established by the date a claim is filed and is ordinarily the first 12 of the preceding 16 to 18 months, depending upon the month during which the claim is filed."
Information pamphlets and application forms are available at any Department of Employment Office or may be obtained by writing P. O. Box 469, Long Beach.
