SPORTS Fremont School to Compete in Brea 20-30 Club 1st Annual Grade School Track Meet; 11 County Schools Enter The 20-30 Club of Brea will hold their first annual Grade School Track Meet this Saturday afternoon at the Brea-Olinda Union high school athletic field. First event to start at 1:30 p.m. Grandstand seats will be available to the public with the proceeds going to the 20-30 International's campaign against rheumatic fever. Eleven county elementary schools have entered the meet including Fremont of Anaheim and schools of Brea, Buena Park, Centralia, Cypress, Fullerton, Garden Grove, La Habra, Orange, Placentia and Yorba Linda. Trophy, Medals, Ribbons A trophy will be awarded to the school with the highest number of points. Medals will be given to the boy in each classification with the highest number of points; ribbons will be awarded for first, second, third and fourth place in all events. Events in the meet will be the 50 yard dash; 75 yard dash; 220 yard, four man relay; 440 yard, four man relay; high jump; broad jump; 6 pound shot and obstacle course. Anaheim Riding Club Competes in Chino Rancho Ride The Anaheim Riding Club will participate in the annual Chino Rancho Ride slated for this Sunday, April 24, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the assembly area at the Los Serranos Country Club. Last year the local riding club, entered as the La Habra Riding Club placed fourth in mounted groups. Other country riding clubs entered include the El Rodeo Riding club, Placentia; Tri-City Wranglers, Westminster; Mesa Boots and Saddle club, Costa Mesa; Foothill Riders, Buena Park and the Carefree Riders, Artesia. The grand marshall for the ride this year, will be Sheriff Eugene Biscailuz of Los Angeles county, accompanied by a special escort. Fish Commission School with the highest number of points. Fremont Enters 17 Track Coach Jaminez will take 17 Fremont boys, comprising a junior and senior team, to compete in the meet. The senior team for boys 13-14 years of age includes: Herbel, Salazar, Philpott, Canchez, Fregosa, Orejal, Valencia, Villa and Crout. Members of the junior team (12-13 years) are: Rivera, Jenkins, Redman, Moody, Stokes, Rios, Vincent and Frank. Glass windows were known 1,600 years ago. Fish Commission Predicts Good Trout Fishing With the opening of trout season a short time away, the Division of Fish and Game has announced that there should be plenty of fish for anglers and "fishing should be good," starting May. The 27 hatcheries operated by the Division of Fish and Game have planted a total of 15,794,842 trout, of which 6100 were planted in Orange county. Hank Robles of Anaheim was giving Bernie his between-round pointers. In the semi-final, Gil Chavis, Downey welterweight pounded out a decision over Sam 'Golden Boy' Wilson of Los Angeles. Capturing the plaudits of the crowd was pint-size David Franco, Brawley flyweight, who won a clear-cut decision over Armando Feliz, 113, of Los Angeles. The diminutive Franico fought like a bantam fighting rooster, moving in continually and throwing and landing leather throughout the four rounds of action. Baracuda still are running light although a few have been caught at Doheny State Park. Surf fishing is good at Doheny and at San Onofre beach. A square inch of skin may have 3,000 sweat glands. According to Assemblyman Lesr Davis, sponsor of the measure it would help in equalizing conditions under which California hunters work while in Nevada. The Nevadans have charged up to $25 for tags plus $10 in additional hunting fees. Prior to this legislation, out of state hunters have paid one dollar for the legal limit of deer tags.
