County 4-H Club All-Stars at Berkeley Confab California 4-H Club All-Stars are again in attendance at the annual convention of All-Stars at the University of California at Berkeley. Miss Nancy Burdick of the West Orange 4-H Club and Frank Mead, III, Orange Park Acres, Orange county delegates, will attend the conference with 84 other All-Star delegates from all over California, according to H. W. Longfellow, assistant farm advisor in Orange county. Full Program The program this year will be packed full of interest for the All-Stars. There will be a visit to Fisherman’s Wharf and Chinatown in San Francisco and a boat trip around the bay. They will attend a Beethoven concert of the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra at the Memorial Opera House. On the University campus the group will be toured through the library and the radiation laboratory. Talks by faculty members will include Chiura Obata, whose subject is “Mother Nature in California;” Lester E. Reukema, on “Atomic Energy Possibilities;” Albert Elkus, who will discuss Beethoven before the group attends the symphony; and Charles Camp, who will tell of recent explorations in Africa. Coach Waldorf to Speak That sounds like a full schedule right there... but that’s not all. Lucille K. Waldorf, the head football coach, will tell about athletics at the University of California. This is the ninth All-Star conference held in California. The representatives who will gather in Berkeley in April were chosen as outstanding 4-H Club members for the year 1948. They will meet to exchange views and learn new ideas to take back to the club members in their county. An All-Star sets the pace for 4-H Club members and stands for the best there is in club work.
