Nuptials Read On 'Bride–Groom' Radio Program
A cooking utensil demonstration dinner given in a private home proved to be a romance bureau as well for Miss Phyllis Louise Baldassarre, Anaheim and Willard F. Williams of Long Beach, whose betrothal culminated yesterday (Wednesday) in a ceremony broadcast over the ABC network's "Bride and Groom" program at 2:30 p.m.
The sequence which led to yesterday's nuptials began during the demonstration party given recently in Long Beach. It seems that while his boss was making a sales pitch, Williams was out in the kitchen selling $142 worth of the pots and pans to the hostess (Miss Baldassarre), a girl he had met a year earlier when she was working at the ship's service fountain at the Los Alamitos Naval Air Station.
Program Emcee John Nelson, during the "airways" rites, presented the newlyweds with $2,000 worth of wedding gifts, then sent them to Apple Valley Inn at Apple Valley Ranchos, near Victorville, for a carefree, expense-free five-day honeymoon.
very heart of home life, but Americans are a gregaropis race. They enjoy mingling. So the theater, besides being a central place of amusement, is a meeting place of the community.
"I believe in Holiday Stage, in its aims and ideals, in its ambition to bring to Orange county the best in theatrical entertainment," Carmichael said.

Set Telephone Hour Programs

Holiday Stage Signs Carmichael
Kenn Carmichael signed a contract this week to return to Holiday Stage as head of the public relations department, assuring the organization national news coverage for its third year of professional stage productions in Tustin beginning June 27.
For several years, Carmichael has been a contributor to leading American periodicals published in New York, Washington, D.C., and other leading eastern cities.
In recent interview he stated, "A return of the public's interest in stage presentations is inevitable. The theatre has, since time began, been an integral part of family and cultural life. Even the earliest nomads, centering life around the open fire, dramatized the histories of their races. The church has always placed an emphasis upon drama, in its pulpit and in its social halls. Schools, libraries, clubs, all value the dramatic media in education and communication. True, television and radio bring drama into the All proceeds will be given to the church for the expansion fund, it was announced.
