Release Man On $300 Bail
Orville Earl Elliott of this city was released on $300 bail last Thursday night pending hearing on an alleged slot machine violation charge.
Elliott, the owner of Pappy's Drive-In restaurant on Lincoln avenue and Manchester boulevard intersection, is scheduled to appear in the local police court April 8 at 9 a.m.
Two slot machines were reported discovered at the restaurant early last Thursday morning by local police. Elliott was subsequently issued a warrant.
The Mississippi river has a channel suitable for ocean-going vessels upstream to Baton Rouge, La., a distance of 233 miles.

Elks Rifle Team Winner of Inter-Club Match Tues.
The Elks club rifle team was the winner for the fifth consecutive time when they participated in the Inter-Club match at the rifle range at the Anaheim high school last Tuesday, in a match that was close all the way. The high score was 920 with second high score of 911 shots by members of the Anaheim Rifle and Pistol club.
Additional clubs participating a score of 882 for the third place were the Ladies Rifle Club with a score of 882 for the third place and the fourth place winners, the Izaak Walton Club with a score of 873.
Points were scored for positions of prone, sitting, kneeling and off-hand.
The high score for the entire meet was made by Euelda Alley with a total of 192 points out of a possible 200. Harold Titus had a score of 191 and Ralph Osborn came up with a total score of 190. Both men are members of the Elks Rifle team.
Team member scoring are as follows: Elks Rifle team; prone 50 points, sitting, 50 points, kneeling, 48 points and off-hand, 43 points. Individual member scores are as follows with points to cover the position named above: Osborn, 50, 48, 48 and 44. Paul Rumfelt, 48, 48, 46 and 42. Sam Phillips, 50, 45, 45 and 40. Wiley Rumfelt, 48, 48, 43 and 38 points. Anaheif Rifle and Pistol club: Kenny Wire, 50, 48, 47 and 44. Sterling Murdock, 47, 48, 47 and 44. Ralph Hill, 50, 47, 46 and 42. Next week and continuing for four weeks, the four clubs will shoot for the city championship trophy when they will fire ten rounds in the prone position, ten rounds standing and other rules applicable to members. The ten high men will constitute the championship team.
Ice Capade Box Office Opens Here
Special Ice Capades box office has been set up at Baton Music Co., 157 West Center street, Anaheim, it was announced by Ice Capades officials.
The famed frozen fantasy opens at the Pan-Pacific, Los Angeles 36, on April 21 for a limited engagement.
Walt Disney's Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is the featured production number in the ice spectacle this year. The well beloved fairy tales is one of the seven big production events in the all new 1949 edition.
Donna Atwood, titian-haired beauty, plays the role of Snow White while blond and handsome Bobby Specht takes the part of Prince Charming.
The Ice Capades traveling box office will visit Anaheim for one day only, Wednesday, April 6, where you can purchase tickets direct at all prices for all performances. The travelling box office is in addition to the regular daily ticket exchange service, officials said.

RETURNS TO HOME IN EAST AFTER VISIT HERE
Mrs. Harry Nielsen of Des Plaines, Illinois returned to her home on Wednesday of this week following a three weeks visit here with her sister Mrs. Ella R. Chitty of 204 South Bush street. While here they spent several days at Pala in San Diego county and Mrs. Nielsen was a visitor at the broadcasting studios in Los Angeles on several occasions.

Thos. Born Pleads 'Not Guilty' to Disturbing Peace
Thomas E. Born, 29 years, 134 Highland avenue, Fullerton, pleaded not guilty Monday morning, March 28th to charges of disturbing the peace on March 5. A jury trial for April 20 was set by City Judge Bonnat.
The complaint was signed by Clyde C. McConaugh, employed at the Stables, 121 South Los Angeles street and sworn out on Sunday morning, March 6.
Born was arraigned in city court on March 10, and released on $100 cash bail to appear on March 16. He failed to appear and City Judge Bonnat ordered the bail forfeited and the defendant to appear on March 22.
Through his attorney, Born informed the court he was down with the mumps and the case was continued to March 28.
Cain Services Conducted Here
Last rites for Mrs. Flora Mae Cain, 63, 319 South Kroeger street, Anaheim, who died early Sunday morning at Fullerton General hospital following a brief illness, were conducted at Hilgenfeld chapel Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Daniel F. Miller, pastor of the Wesley Methodist church, officiating.
A native of Arkansas, Mrs. Cain had been a resident of Anaheim for the past 28 years. She was a member of the Wesley Methodist church, of Rebekah Lodge No. 268, and of the Women's Relief corp.
She is survived by her husband, James Cain, of the family home, and one sister, Mrs. Georgia York
