Solons Blast San Diego, 15-0;
St. Louis Browns Here Sunday
The Sacramento Solons rolled out the welcome mat Wednesday afternoon at La Palma park for Bucky Harris and the San Diego Padres with a 15-0 lacing before a slim mid-week gathering.
A dozen of the Solons twenty-one hits came off the bats of a quartet of sluggers. Joe Grace rapped out a triple, a double and a single while outfielder Al White knocked four singles. Rookie Bill Wilson got himself three singles. Carl Cox had a double and a triple.
Hurlers Effective
While the Sacramento artillery was on target, a trio of Baker hurlers were handcuffing the Padres with ten hits. Manny Salvo allowed but two in three innings and Mike Caplinger was equally effective, allowing only three hits in four innings. Tommy Rose gave up five hits in two frames.
On Sunday afternoon the St. Louis Browns Bee squad will cavort with the Sacs on the local diamond—game starting at 2:15. This will be the only appearance of a major league team in Anaheim during the current spring.

Bill Cook's Colonist tennis teams brought home the bacon Wednesday afternoon as both the varsity and junior varsity shutout invading Wilson of Long Beach 9-0 and 4-0.
Tuesday the tennis teams travel to Norwalk to meet the Excelsior teams.

Llerman Max Pitch
Glen Lierman, pride of Orange, might get the nod from Skipper Baker for one of the hurling assignments in the Sunday tustle.
This afternoon the Sacs journey to Glendale to take on the pennant winning Oakland Oaks and on Friday they play Seattle at Wilmington.
Monday, the Solons meet Portland at Riverside and then return to the comfortable confines of La Palma for three games—playing Seattle, Oakland and Los Angeles on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
AUHS Baseball Teams Split With Jordan
John Wallin's AUHS varsity baseball team were the victims of the no-hit hurling of Jordan high pitcher Johnson who shut out the locals in a stellar exhibition Tuesday at Long Beach, 8-0.
It was a tight ballgame up until the sixth inning when the Colonists committed five errors allowing six runs to cross the plate.
Bob Hilton was on the mound for the locals with Mata behind the plate.
Junior Varsity Wins
While their big brothers of the diamond were going hitless, the Colonist junior varsity was involved in a tight ball game with the Jordan jv's.
Anaheim won 5-3, scoring three runs in the final inning. Bob Casperson pitched the Glovermen to the victory, allowing four hits, three runs and striking out eight.

Beverly Hills Swamps Anaheim Swimming Teams
Beverly Hills swamped the Anaheim swimming squads in a dual meet—beating the varsity, 67-8; the Bee squad, 45-20 and the Cee squad 38-1.
Leonard Weaver, Bee squad diver, was the only Colonist to score a first in the meet. In the varsity competition, Beverly Hills took eight firsts, garnered seven in the Bee meet and four out of four in the Cee.
Dudley Frank placed second in the individual medley for the lone varsity second spot.
Coach Ralph Kingsbury will take his tankmen to El Segundo next Wednesday and Thursday for the C.I.F. Invitational.
Protests Flood Capitol on Gun Registration
A flood of protests to a legislative proposal to require the registration of all firearms was reported today by state lawmakers.
Assembyman Ralph Brown of Modesto, chairman of the assembly judiciary committee, said he has received "literally hundreds of letters in opposition to the measure."
The law is being sponsored by assembyman William Byron Rumford of Berkeley, who said he offered the bill in an effort to curb possession of guns by criminals.
Points made in opposition to the measure are that the measure is an "infringement on the constitutional rights of citizens to keep and bear arms" it would be held by who has registered at the A Schultz Furniture store in The heim and has a registered name in his/her possession and will be a resident of Orange county.

Orange County Boats
Deep sea fish must be taken from boats leaving Orange county ports, docks and landings on a twenty-four hour time limit placed on deep-sea fishing ticks.
All fish must be weighed headquarters of boat and verbs by the skipper of boat and must include name of boat and date catch. Private boats must weigh fish at a public weighing station and show a certified weight receipt on catches of deep sea fish.
In case of tie weights, first registered fish will win. All contests fish must be left at the A Schultz furniture store, to frozen for display until displayed by a larger registered fish contestant can win more than a deep freeze unit.
Rules were drawn up by rules committee of the local Iza Walton club.
KwiKset Chess Club Organized
Thirteen members of KwiKset Locks, Inc., Anaheim manufacturers of door locks and other building hardware, have organized chess club, according to Adolf Schoepe, company president.
Regular meetings are to be held each Monday afternoon on recreation floor of the cafeteria building.
Among the first to sign up for play and instruction are: Jam Allen, Aaron Rubin, Harvey Lenke. Richard Nagode, A. R. Baish Joseph Dorsey, Edward Mott, Ka Reinhard, Leo Kolar, Bernal Weaver, Kenneth Bethesda, Lou Reggiardo, and Adolf Schoepe.
The club is open to all KwiKset employees. Officers will be elected shortly.

Clint Flynn Tops Locals at LA Casting Event
Clint Flynn, Ike caster, de luxe, took the Class B medal for %-oz. accuracy and the Class B Skish bait event with a score of 64; last Sunday at Los Angeles in a tournament sponsored by the Martin's Casting club.
Roy Mabee with a 95 placed second in the Class A, %-oz. accuracy event. Joe Burke took the number three slot with a 91 in the C, %-oz. accuracy event.
The %-oz. accuracy event team placed fourth among seven teams competing with a score of 427. El Rancho Rod and Gun club team was first with a 455.
In the team event, scores were as follows: Clint Flynn, 98; Jim Rymer, 86; Spence Allcock, 81; Ed Daniels, 81; Roy Mabee, 81.
Local Ikes scored in the %-oz. accuracy event as follows: Roy Mabee, 95; Joe Burk, 91; Clint Flynn, 90; Ed Daniels, 90; Spence Allcock, 88; Jim Rymer, 85; Arch Henry, 85; Bill Ferris, 82.

This type of measure has always appeared in Europe just prior to usurpation of government by communist groups."
Brown stated that he is "opposed to the measure" declaring, "I can see no good purpose for such a requirement."
Expect Grunion Run March 16, 17 and 18
Grunion, the anchovy-like fish caught with hands, are scheduled to run on southern California beaches at 10:30 p.m., March 16; 11:00 p.m., March 17 and 11:45 p.m., March 18, with each run lasting about an hour. Choice spots, according to the fish and game commission, are east Long Beach to Huntington Beach and La Jolla.

Announce Aaron Schultz Orange County Fish Derby; Offer Home Freezer Units for Largest Fish
Orange county fishermen will have something more besides fish to angle for this season.
The Aaron Schultz Furniture store in Anaheim is sponsoring a county-wide fish derby with three home freezer units—one each for deep-sea, surf and fresh water fishermen to bait their hooks for. The units will be awarded to the residents of Orange county catching the largest fish in each of the three classes.

Leavitt Ford and Ritz Win
An unheralded Alpha Beta team threw a scare into the high-flying, league leading Leavitt Ford quintet last night in city basketball league competition before finally losing 46-32.
The green-clad grocers jumped to a 12-1 lead and at the half held a 21-20 edge. In the second half the Studebakers came to life with Earl Combs dropping in 12 points to pace the Studes to their 13th win.
Ritz came from behind to beat Rotary 30-25, and finish the season with a 7-7 record. Baker scored 13 for the losers.
Tonight's competition will find Aggies and the Knights of Columbus jockeying for positions for the forthcoming play-offs.

To Give 'Lassie' Trophy at Huge Kennel Show
Anaheim will take the national spotlight again when Lester L. Remy, Collie kennel owner of Orangethorpe boulevard, presents "Lassie," famed movie collie, and her master, Rudd Weatherwax, with a trophy on behalf of the Collie Club of America, Inc., at the organization's annual show, Saturday and Sunday, March 19 and 20, at Hollywood Park Turf club, Prairie avenue, Inglewood.
Host club to the event, which boasts a $3000 premium list, is the California Collie Clan of which Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fordyce of this city are members.
More than 275 A.K.C. registerered dogs were entered before the deadline last Saturday.
"Lassie" will be presented the beautiful silver trophy, now on display at Barker Brothers, Los Angeles, in recognition of "popularizing the collie to third place among breeds of favorite dogs."
The public is invited to attend the show. Admission will be charged. Doors open from 9:30 to 5 o'clock, both days.
Mr. and Mrs. Remy are owners of the "San-Lou-Rey," A.K.C. registered Collie Kennels.
Judge for the show will be J. P. McCain of Pittsburgh, Penn.
