Anaheim Golfers Shoot Today for Perpetual Trophy
Some fifty members of the Anaheim Golf association are at the Lakewood Country club course this afternoon for their annual Field Day and will be shooting for the organization's Perpetual Trophy.
Figured as "high honor" in Anaheim golf circles, the cup is awarded to the man with the net low score for the day. Last year's winner was Frank Leonard.
Other awards scheduled to be presented at the dinner are First-flight Trophy to Dick Gay and runner-up honors to Les Moon; Second-flight honors to Ken Hellyer or Vernon Rold who will be playing-off this afternoon and Third-flight silver to Maurice Shirk or Warren Lampan who also will be shooting in a play-off.
Also slated for the evening will be the election of a new president to take over the job that Les Moon has held for the past year. Les had indicated that he will be seeking "relief."

Flores Fights Chevez Friday At Hollywood
Sal Flores, Anaheim middle-weight, makes his second professional appearance tomorrow evening, Friday, January 28, at the Hollywood Legion stadium, meeting Frankie Chevez in a four-round preliminary.
This will be Chevez's pro debut and the second time he has met the local fighter in the ring, having fought a draw with Flores in an amateur bout at the Pico Palace, a couple of months ago.
The fight should be a natural with Flores going all out to set the record straight after drop-outs.
Flynn, Whippo Win Chevrons In Skish Event
Expert chevrons were awarded Clint Flynn and Sam Whippo for skill displayed in a registered skish tournament held Sunday between ram squalls in the La Palma park casting pool, under sponsorship of the Izaak Walton casting club. Flynn chalked up a score of 78, while Whippo marked up 76.
Several local casters were awarded merit chevrons for scores achieved in the skish balt event as follows: Jim Rymer, 64; Lowell Gamble, 64; Bob Williams, 56; Roy Mabee, 56; Morrie Shirk, 54; Dick Hoskins, 54 (Junior); Arch Henry, 54; Dick Arnold, 50 (Junior) and Bill Ferris, 50.
No one nabbed the masters chevron which required a score from 80 to 100, achieved by hitting the required number of rings.
Clint Flynn ran up a top score of 95 in the % ounce plug tournament event.
Other casting results in this event were as follows: Dick Hoskins, 93; Arch Henry, 86; Bill Ferris, 86; Sam Whippo, 86; Spence Allcock, 85; Roy Mabee, 78; Jim Rymer, 78; Morrie Shirk, 77; Nick Wingert, 74; Lowell Gamble, 74; Dick Arnold, 67, and Arch Kavanaugh, 53.
The tourney was to include a skish fly event and a balt distance event which were postponed due to weather conditions. Another competition is set tentatively for Sunday morning, February 6, at the La Palma casting pool.
Howard Stewart and Perry Boyer participated in the last tourney in addition to those named above.
Paraplegic Vets Trow Wheelchair Basketball March of Dimes Re
A free-wheeling Paralyzed Veterans hospital in Van Noyan's entry in the local City Basin in a March of Dimes benefit bar school gym Tuesday evening.
Some 150 people were on hand both teams play from wheelchairs. Dean Camblin of Des Moines, Iowa, paced the winners and wheeled off with scoring honors with 12 points.
The vets employed a tight, blocking defense which was too much for the local sporting goods team. By wheeling in front of the opposition, the vets were able to 'cover' for their players who were shooting.
Originated War Day
Wheelchair basketball as a competitive sport originated at the Birmingham hospital in 1946 and has rapidly spread until now virtually every veteran's hospital having paralyzed patients has a team.
The Paralyzed Veterans Association athletic club of Van Nuys in their first season of competition won 24 of 26 games played and last year took ten out of twelve.
Rules Revised
Regulation basketball rules were revised where necessary. For example a player is allowed two pushes on his wheels after which he must pass or dribble or a violation for progress will be called.
A personal foul is called when a player holds, pushes or deliberately rams another player's chair. A free throw is awarded when an able-bodied player stands up,

Ben Agajanian, manager of Flores, reports his boy in top shape for the bout and expressed confidence that Sal would "take this one."
