Fire Insurance Rates Lower Here Fire insurance rates for a dwelling in Anaheim are lower than ever before despite the decreased valuation of the United States dollar, highly evidenced today in the war and post-war periods, according to M. E. Beebe, local insurance man. Compared to pre-war rates, the fire insurance rates today, including E. C. E. coverage on dwellings is $1.75 per $1,000 lower, although the cost of food, clothing, drug items, building materials and other essentials has steadily increased, he said. Previously the insurance which provides protection against fire in almost every instance, except that of flood and earthquake, was $8.50 per $1,000. "In 1917 when I began business as an insurance man in Anaheim, a limited policy of fire insurance on a residence cost on an average of $18 per $1,000." lings is $1.75 per $1,000 lower, although the cost of food, clothing, drug items, building materials and other essentials has steadily increased, he said. Previously the insurance which provides protection against fire in almost every instance, except that of flood and earthquake, was $8.50 per $1,000. "In 1917 when I began business as an insurance man in Anaheim, a limited policy of fire insurance on a residence cost on an average of $12 per $1,000. The old-type policy excluded the E. G. E. clause, covering only damage by fire or damage from water and smoke resulting from a fire. A fire-resistant roof on a dwelling was $1.20 less." The current decrease in cost of fire insurance in this area is due to the low fire loss ratio on dwellings in southern California, Beebe commented. Irvine Bean and Grain Growers Incorporate Articles of incorporation were filed in Sacramento last week with secretary- of state Frank M. Jordan by the Irvine Bean and Grain Growers Association with headquarters in Orange county. Memberships are $100 and the new corporation will seek to cut costs of marketing beans and grains. Directors are Walter Pollard, A. H. Jamieson, and W. L. Ritter of Santa Ana, John Wiegand of Capistrano, and W. B. Hellis of Tustin.
