Winning their second consecutive contest within a week the Anaheim Colonist waterpolo squads defeated Santa Ana Tuesday afternoon in the losers pool.
Led by Dudley Franks who connected for seven points, the varsity swamped the Saints 11-4 while Jack Johannes scored eight digits to spark the Bees to a 9-3 victory. Last week the Varsity defeated Leuzinger 12-8 while the Bees won 12-4 for the poloists first victories of the season.
The Saints played a rough game and a lot of fouls were called in favor of the Colonists which accounted for quite a few goals. Also the locals were hampered with numerous fouls, but fortunately the Saints didn’t take advantage of them.

Big gun for Anaheim was Meade, who scored 12, followed by Hurtado, who connected for 8. The Bee Colonists led 12-6 at the end of the first quarter, jumped to a 29-10 lead at the half and then really got hot—boosting the score to 45-15 during the third period.

Walton’s Install Jim Rymer to State Board
At a meeting of the California State Division of Izaak Walton League held at Fullerton, Jim Rymer of Anaheim was installed as a member of the Board of Directors. Fifteen of the state division’s 25 chapters were represented at the meeting.
The Ikes heard that they have enjoyed a 35 per cent increase in chapters and also heard plans for the purchase of a 40-acre grove of redwoods on the Redwood Highway to be known as the Izaak Walton league grove.
The state conservation group again expressed opposition to the proposed tramway to be constructed from Palm Springs to the top of Mount Jacinto. The Ikes based their opposition on the contention that not only would this invade one of the new primitive areas left in the state but that the tramway was of doubtful economic stability.
Action was also taken at the meeting to petition governor Warren to act in favor of a plan of the California War Memorial association to establish a state park in Calavera county at a sugar pine grove which contains trees over 500 years old. It is the largest and oldest sugar pine grove known and is threatened by logging operations this spring.
It was also learned that the deer survived remarkably well in the recently burned area in the Santa Ana mountains. They are being fed by the state department of Fish and Game.
Conservation Board Considers Proposed Projects
California sportsmen, civic groups and individuals to date have suggested a total of 91 fish and game construction projects for consideration by the Wildlife Conservation Board.
Board Consultant Seth Gordon, former head of the Pennsylvania game commission, estimated the cost of proposed conservation projects to total more than $20,000,000. The Board will spend three million dollars annually for the next three years from state horse racing tax funds.
Gordon announced a working list of capital construction proposals which will be revised and expanded as additional information becomes available. Many warm water fish projects have not yet been submitted, he said.
Most of the board’s temporary special consultants in various phases of fish and game conservation completed their investigations in December. Several will return for additional studies of California wildlife needs before Gordon submits his report to the board next June.

Coach Keith used his entire 14-man squad with the second-stringers putting in more time than the starting five. Both Thatcher who scored 13 and Gray who swished for 10 looked well in the free-scoring affair.
Tom Buckles, Downey mentor, seems destined with a cellar occupying outfit. Spark-plug of the squad is forward Crist who for a little guy sure gets around.

ABalone Season Closes Friday.
Even though it's winter, Californians may hunt and fish, but care must be used in what is shot or hooked, the State Division of Fish and Game announced.
For those who like abalones, the season is still open but will end January 14. Ten abalones form the limit and five of the red species. However, a 1949 angling license is necessary.
Lobsters may be taken, provided they are not under 10½ inches or over 16 inches, up to March 15, with no bag limit. The crab season will close August 15. The bag limit is ten in the Eel River and Humboldt Bay, but there is no limit elsewhere. No males may be taken under seven inches and no females.
There is no closed season on black bass, sunfish, crappie, Sacramento perch, calico bass, or catfish. Likewise there is year-round fishing in ocean waters but an angling license is required.
The season is limited on steelhead trout and salmon, closing January 31, and on February 28 in some special streams. The taking of clams ends April 30 in Santa Cruz and Humboldt Bay areas, but there is no closed season elsewhere.
As for the lowly jackrabbit, there is an open season in all but Districts 4, 4½, 4¾, 19, and 22, and a hunting license is required.

Jesse James, the Golden Greek from Texas and Dave Levin, former world heavyweight wrestling champ will exchange grunts and groans tonight (Thursday) at the Orange County Athletic Club ring when they meet in the "rematch of the season."
The two boys met in the local arena last December 9 and it took an extra time elimination match before the winner, Jesse James, could be named on points. James then went on to take the club title.
Their meeting tonight will be a best of three falls or one hour limit affair.
Another tag team battle is being featured on tonight's card with Chief Little Wolf who appeared in last week's fracas teaming up with Buddy Curtis to see what they can do to Lee Bad Boy Grable and Angelo Cistoldi.

Leavitt Ford Beats Williams, 44-28; Take 2d Place; Perez Protests Game
Scoring 30 points in the second half, the Leavitt Ford basketball team took victory and second place from the Williams team in a City Basketball League tustle last evening in a game which ended 44-28.
Al Perez, manager of the losers filed protest, charging that Jackson who played a bang-up game of guard for Ford's was playing under an assumed name and not on the roster. Perez also expressed intent to check up on Earl Combs, former Huntington Beach star and USC player, to determine his eligibility.
The game started off slow with the Williams team taking an early lead which they finally relinquished in the closing minutes of the first half. Half-time score was 14-13 in favor of Ford's.
Thorton scored 15 for the winners, really got hot in the second stanza as did Jackson who got 11. Combs, in his short appearance, garnered 6.
