Beta Sigma Phi Group Hold Pledge Ceremony Mon. Eve
A colorful ceremony for three pledges to Beta Sigma Phi sorority was held last Monday evening when the members and their guests met at Carey's Restaurant in Santa Ana for their regular dinner meeting. The dinner table was attractively centered with a large bouquet of white chrysanthemums and bird of paradise.
During the short business session following the dinner, Marjorie Pibel, president, announced the Southern California Council breakfast to be held at the Lakewood Country Club on Sunday, Nov. 21.
Yellow rosebuds in attractive containers and yellow tapers were used on the table for the ceremony in honor of the pledges, Helen Cohn, Eloise Bratt and Anna Engebretsen. This was a candlelight service and was in charge of the president, Marjorie Pibel and Josephine Chance, vice president.
The next meeting will be held at the home of Dorothy Gerlech on Nov. 22.
Guests at the Monday evening meeting were Marjorie Pibel, Dorothea Schutz, Bessie Frey, Dorothy Gerlech, Gretchen Varner, Anna Claire Mauerhan, Mildred Mauerhan, Beulah Hineman, Josephine Chance, Alice Myers, Esther David, Irene Holland and Audrey Vail.

Star Points participating in the ritual with the bride-elect included Mrs. Blanche Green, Mrs. Velma Elder, Mrs. Lura Scovil, all of Fullerton, and Mrs. Jeanette McConnell of Anaheim.
The announcement was made following a pot-luck dinner and election meeting of the chapter with Lettie Eberley, worthy matron, presiding.
Jaysee Students Transfer to USC
Now enrolled in the University of California after transferring from Fullerton Junior college are 24 students from the nearby campus, it was reported by the USC office of relations with schools.

PLAN 1948 SHRINE CHARITY BALL
Parties are being made locally to attend the forty annual Shrine Charity Ball held at Shrine Auditorium Angeles, Wednesday evening November 24, Potentate Edward Cook of Al Malaikah Temple announced. All funds raised the event will go to charterprises of the Shrine special emphasis on the Ch Tree Show scheduled for October 17, at which time gifts presents will be distributed fortunate youngsters in the land.

Greet Newcomers To Junior Ebell
Mrs. Ray Ortez, Jr., president of the Anaheim Junior Ebell club welcomed 33 new members into the organization last week. The new comers were presented by Mrs. Carol Robertson, membership chairman at the evening meeting at the clubhouse.
Plans for the annual Christmas party were launched. This year's Yule season affair will be a dinner dance at Los Serranos country club, date to be announced later. New members, who will be introduced formally during the December meeting, will sponsor the party.
Speaker of the evening was Mrs. Mildred Younger of Pasadena, prominent in politics, journalism and academic professions. She gave a formal discussion on the possibilities of enlarging and improving the life of the homemaker of today. She urged her audience to participate in both professional fields and civic affairs.
Section meetings for the month were outlined. November 16, the bridge section will meet at the clubhouse. Favors for trays of child patients in the county hospital will be created on November 23 by the welfare group.
Red Cross Plans 1949 Fund Drive
Named co-chairman of the 1949 fund drive of the Anaheim chapter of the American Red Cross during the board meeting Wednesday of last week by Mrs. Leo J. Friis, chairman, were L. M. Pickel, C. E. Griffith and Howard Loudon. The drive will begin formally in March.
Ten first aid certificates were issued during October, it was disclosed. A first aid station was maintained at the county fair by the four chapters in the county, with Anaheim in charge last Thursday. Those on duty included Hubert Ladig and C. E. Granere, first aid instructors, and Mrs.

The Home Service report showed that 40 cases were open during the month, eight of which were two and two re-opened. Service was given in 19 cases. Financial assistance was given two veterans and one serviceman. There were 30 office callers and five home calls were made.
Thirty-five potential blood donors were typed at the Blood Typing Center conducted October 29 at the Ebell clubhouse.
Mrs. Emory Simon, Volunteer Services chairman, reported that 28 volunteers donated 150 hours of work. A letter of thanks from the Veterans' hospital at Sawtelle for production articles sent them was read.
Tells Engagement At O.E.S. Meeting
More than 200 members of Ami Tai Chapter, Order of Eastern Star from Fullerton and Anaheim, witnessed the impressive ceremony, which announced the engagement of one of its officers, Miss Shirley Kohlenberger of Riverside, Wednesday night of last week at the Fullerton Masonic Temple.

JOB'S DAUGHTERS' RUMMAGE SALE SUCCESS
A rummage, clothing and food sale was staged with success by members of Job's Daughters, Bethel No. 5, and the Mothers' club, Friday and Saturday in the empty store building, 102 East Center street.
Daugherty Infant Funeral Held
Funeral services for Bruce Daugherty, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert G. Daugherty, 402 South Olive street, Anaheim, were conducted at the graveside in Anaheim cemetery Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock with the Rev. Daniel F. Miller, pastor of the Wesley Methodist church, this city, officiating. The infant died last Friday night at the Long Beach Navy hospital.
He is survived in addition to his parents, by his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Belle Daugherty of Oregon.
Hilgenfeld morturay was in charge of arrangements.
