PAULA DORETTI, petite Anaheim high school coed and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank J. Doretti of 327 S. Olive street, will represent Anaheim in the beauty queen contest to be held by the Orange County Fair here this month. Her selection was announced this morning by the Anaheim Chamber of Commerce. If she wins the contest, the 16-year-old high school senior will rule as "queen" of the Fair.
October 31 Set For Ike Walton Casting Tourney
"Ike" Walton anglers from the area will try their casting skills with rod and reel at a casting tournament scheduled for Sunday October 31, at La Palma park, under the sponsorship of the local chapter of the Izaak Walton League. All league members and their families are invited to attend the event which will begin at 9 o'clock in the morning.
Six events, in order of occurrence for the day include the dry fly accuracy, wet fly accuracy, % ounce bait accuracy in "B" and "C" classes, % ounce bait accuracy in "B" and "C" classes, skis casting in "B" and "C" classes, and the fisherman's distance cast.
Junior events for casters 15 years of age and under will be featured in the % ounce accuracy and skish casting.
Prizes will be awarded for every event it was announced. Trophies will go to the caster with the highest total in all accuracy, to the caster with the highest total in bait accuracy and to the caster having the highest skish score. A small entry fee will be charged.
Fred E. Beckler Death on Sunday
Fred E. Beckler passed away at his home at 929 North Emily street, this city, on Sunday, Oct 17. Born April 15, 1872, in Friendship, Indiana, he was 76 years old at the time of his passing. The deceased and his wife came to Anaheim 14 years ago from Deshler, Nebrr.
Surviving are one son, R. H. Beckler of Anaheim; three daughters, Mrs. Fred Herrlein of Orange, Miss Martha Beckler and

Avocado Growers To Hold Study Tour October 28
A tour to study avocados in Yorba Linda, Corona, and Riverside will be held on Thursday, October 28, announced Dick Puffer, assistant farm advisor.
Growers will meet at 8:30 a.m. in Yorba Linda at the corner of Yorba Linda Boulevard and Imperial Highway. Two stops will be made in Yorba Linda, then the tour will proceed to Corona. Four stops are planned in Corona and the tour will also stop for lunch in the Corona Park. Growers are asked to bring their own lunch and beverage. The tour will then proceed to the Citrus Experiment Station at Riverside. The tour will be back in Orange county between 4 and 4:30 p.m.
Many phases of avocado growing will be seen during the day and growers will have the opportunity to ask questions on all phases of raising avocados.
All growers interested in avocados are invited to attend this tour.

Beauty Shop's Grand Opening Next Monday
Grand opening of the Anaheim Permanent Wave shop, owned by Mrs. Jean Thueson, in its new location, 103 East Center street, formerly Pauline's Beauty Shop, will be Monday.
Purchase of the location and equipment was made by Mrs. Thueson, a licensed operator, from Leo Tangney and Edward Boicourt. Formerly, the Anaheim Permanent Wave Shop was located at 133½ North Los Angeles street.
Other operators in the wave shop in addition to Mrs. Thueson will be Anna Wurtz, Lottie Bramman and Lois Wilkerson, who was associated with Pauline's.
Officials Will See County’s Water Resources
A survey of water resources in southern California is to be made by the state Water Resources Board on November 4, 5 and 6 and will include the Santa Ana river. The upper river is on the itinerary of the party on November 5 and the next day the party will inspect the river from Riverside down stream to the ocean shore. This will include the Prado flood control dam, levee and other protection work, the Santa Ana gap in the underground dyke along the Orange county shore and the salt water intrusion problem. The party will also visit Santiago dam and the water situation generally in Orange county.
Head of the party will be C. A. Griffith of Azusa, vice-chairman of the board. With the group will be State Engineer Edward F. Hyatt who is also chief of the division of water resources, and other technicians.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Backs, Campbell and Kaulbarc chapel with the Rev. L. E. Eifert pastor of Zion Lutheran church officiating. Interment was in Fairhaven cemetery.
