Tell Festival Data at Orange Shirt Breakfast All current indications point to a bigger-and-better-than-ever two-day silver anniversary Hallowe'en celebration in Anaheim, committee chairmen stated in their reports during the "orange shirt" kick-off breakfast of the Retail Division of the Chamber of Commerce at Mother's Kitchen this morning (Thursday). In the absence of Oscar Solter, Robert J. Rossberg presided over the informal session, when committee reports for the silver anniversary Hallowe'en celebration October 29 and 30 were given. "Be Kind to Black Cats" will be a novel stunt theme to be carried out during the Friday and Saturday festival. E. W. Moeller, executive-secretary of the Chamber of Commerce stated. In a resume of the celebration he announced that the change in the line of march of the Kiddies Parade, to begin Friday at 2:30 o'clock from Sycamore street, between Lemon and Palm streets, to the fair grounds, was due to the high rate of polio cases in this area. Mel Gauer, parade chairman, added that the county health department is urging precaution against fatigue in youngsters which is believed to be one of the main causes of the disease. A special gala kiddies' show will be staged in the fair arena at 3:30 o'clock that afternoon. The window art contest, sponsored by the Anaheim 20-30 club, will conclude that evening with the judging of the best artists in the three divisions, elementary, junior high and high school. An almost complete sell-out of tickets to the huge Anaheim costume breakfast, which will launch Saturday's activities was announced by William Wallop, breakfast chairman. Arrangements were discussed of additional seating. Present accommodations are for 1600 comers. A variety and comedy show surpassing that of last year is promised for this event. Warren Ashleigh and Al Cotler will aid with food arrangements. Ken Hellyer, president of the chamber's board of directors, gave a brief resume of general committee activities. Sales of the small one dollar Hallowe'en festival buttons are good but the 'Big Wheel' buttons are not moving as fast, Dick Gay, button sales chairman, announced. He says that $5000 are needed to reach the goal set to cover expenses of the grand parade Saturday night at 7 o'clock. Eleven top newsmen representing all big news services will cover Gov. Earl Warren's speech at 10 o'clock Saturday morning, Moeller said. Racey dialogue and giddy fines will be featured when offenders of true Hallowe'en tradition in Anaheim appear at the Kangaroo court, Center and Lemon streets, to open at 10:30 o'clock that morning. John Shea will act as judge. Clyde Nickles is chairman of the court. At least three hoodlum wagons will be available. H. C. Allan, "Cheez" of police, announced. The Whiskerino contest will be staged at noon with prizes awarded to those sporting the best and most comical "crops." Stunts, under the chairmanship of John O'Kane will be spotlighted in the grand parade and during Saturday afternoon. Miss Slick Chick and two runners-up, to be chosen at 2:30 o'clock that afternoon, will ride in the parade. Dorothy Graham, Slick Chick chairman, announced. Prizes to be awarded to "Slick Chick" winners are on display in the SQR store window. Better lighting of parade floats, Stunts, under the chairmanship of John O'Kane will be spotlighted in the grand parade and during Saturday afternoon. Miss Slick Chick and two runners-up, to be chosen at 2:30 o'clock that afternoon, will ride in the parade. Dorothy Graham, Slick Chick chairman, announced. Prizes to be awarded to "Slick Chick" winners are on display in the SQR store window. Better lighting of parade floats, complete decoration of all cars participating and strict line of march under the direction of ten division captains will create a better parade than ever. Moeller remarked. Leavitt Ford is parade chairman. What Is So Rare... Soviet UN delegate Andrei Vishinsky takes time out from a Security Council session in Paris to pose—and smile—for photographers.
