Boy Choir Here Next Sunday A representative group of Whitney Boy Singers will here next Sunday, October, at the Bethel Baptist church Broadway in a concert at 7 p.m. During the past thirty this organization, with its changing membership but our directorship of H. E. Whitney, has sung at two World International and several conventions, presenting certs in the Hollywood Bowl at the Rose Festival, and on land, Oregon. In the festive rade, the 2,000 boy chorus is only organization which allowed an entire section by selves. Marching four they reached over a mile in Niagara Falls, N. Y., timore, Md., the aggregated high honors as in Toronto, Canada, and ton, Ontario. Mr. Whitney has instructed in chorus work for a number of years and has been successful training some of the groups in this country. Dedicate Zion Lutheran School In Sunday Rites More than 400 members and friends of the Zion Lutheran church attended impressive services held last Sunday afternoon to dedicate the new $50,000 school of North East Street, Anaheim. Rev. Victor Behnken, pastor of the Orange Immanuel Lutheran school, delivered the sermon for the dedicatorial rites conducted in the patio of the school following a ceremony in which the doors of the building were officially opened. Rev. L. E. Eifert officiated in the initial part of the ceremony, bestowing the name of the school in the name of the Holy Trinity. Children of the upper five grades of the school, directed by their principal Walter Knigge, sang the joyous hymn, "Now Thank We All CHRISTIAN SCIENCE The Golden Text of the Sunday Lesson-Sermon on "Unreality" in all branches of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, will be this verse from Romans, "The night is far spent, the day is at hand; let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light." "The soul of education is the education of the soul" stated Rev. Behnken in his address. His talk was followed by an anthem, "Bless This House" by the Zion choir which was directed by Mrs. Walter Kempin. Members of the drill teams of VFW auxiliary and A. B. Paul Camp, Women's Relief Corps, conducted a brief patriotic ceremony during which they presented the school with classroom flags. Speaking in acceptance was Principal Knigge. Fred Kahlen, chairman of the building committee, also spoke briefly. Inspection of the school followed, during which time women of the church served cookies and citrus juice, the juices a gift from a local packing company. Pouring were Mrs. L. E. Eifert, wife of the pastor, Mrs. Paul Lohr, wife of one of the school's teachers, Mrs. Walter Knigge and Mrs. George Nelson, PTA president. Work on the school began last May and was finished in time for opening of school September 20. Although the builders expected the plant to be large enough for normal growth for several years, the school is filled to capacity and has a waiting list. Ninety-six pupils are enrolled. A new teacher, Miss Frances Luke, has been added to the faculty this year. Many of the congregation have worked on the building in order to reduce the cost, all painting and electrical work being donated. Gratitude has been expressed to all friends of the church who helped, even though not members of the church. The building houses three classrooms, a library-confirmation room, office, waiting room, several store rooms and four restrooms. It is modern-functional in design and was planned by John Fleming, architect of many Orange County schools and Fun, Surprise At. HARER NEW FREE METHODIST PASTOR New pastor at the Free Methodist church is the Rev. George Harer, formerly with a Methodist church in Buckeye, Arizona, for five years. State Birthrate Falls; Death Rate On Increase Orange county has been tentatively allocated $129,500 federal funds for agricultural soil conservation during 1949, the California Department of Agriculture has announced. At the close of business July 31, 135,302 births were records in the state for the first six months of the year, compared to 142,042 for the same period in 1947. Deaths registered, however, showed an increase, with 58,833 recorded for the period as compared to 55,973 for the first six months of 1947. Likewise, marriages were on the decline, with 50,384 recorded as compared to 55,836.
