To Mrs. Dora Riley went the thanks for the beautiful cake she baked in honor of the event. The long luncheon table was centered with the beautiful three-tiered brides cake decorated with a miniature bridal couple. Additional table appointments were Indians and teepees with the place cards clever totem poles. Mrs. Whitaker had lived among the Indians in Oklahoma for eight years and she has a very unusual Indian collection. She also served as county chairman of Indian welfare work for the Federated Clubs of Orange county for two years. Going back to his younger days in thought and spirit, the host, Mr. Whitaker gave readings he had learned as a boy. Another tradition of the class is that once each year each member earns a dollar and, in poetry, she tells how she earned it. This year a total of $24 was earned and turned to the treasurer which is used for any worthy cause the class wishes. A complete surprise to the guests, the occasion was also the 17th anniversary for Mr. and Mrs. Whitaker and in commemoration of the event, a mock wedding was held with the bridal party all in Indian costume. Some very exquisite and expensive costumes were worn. Mrs. Clara Liedke, dressed as a big Indian chief, performed the ceremony. As the wedding progressed the Indian chief escorted the groom into the teepee, and following came the two bridesmaids, Mrs. Ann Merton and Mrs. Fanny Cain, petite little Indian maids to add to the gayety and solemnity of the ritual. The bride, escorted into the teepee by D. E. Dean, Mrs. Emma Murphy, James E. Percey and R. B. Smith, brother of Mrs. Whitaker. Schedule Junior Ebell Activities First general meeting of the Junior Ebell club will be next Tuesday evening at 7:45 o'clock at the club house when members will hear a discussion by John Willis Shearer on the subject of "Youth Is the Answer." The club's "This N' That" section will meet October 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the club house. Speaker will be Mrs. Hagerty of Hagerty's Antique Shop who will analyze old heirlooms and antiques belonging to club members. Hostesses for the occasion will be Mrs. M. W. Little and Mrs. John Richmond. The following Tuesday, October 19, the Contract Bridge Section will meet at 7:30 o'clock in the evening at the club huose with Virginia Fowler, Marion Anderson, Connie Sowder and Pattie Lehmer the hostesses. Mesdames Max Schreiber and David E. Clark will be hostesses for the Welfare Section meeting at 7:30 o'clock Tuesday evening, October 26, at the club house. Federation No. 1 Meet with Local Relief Corps Tues. Visitors for the regular meeting of the A. B. Paul Women's Relief Corps on Tuesday were members of the Southern California Federation No. 1, on a regular visitation to the local camp. Grace Beck, president of Federation No. 1, opened the meeting held with the bridal party all in Indian costume. Some very exquisite and expensive costumes were worn. Then as a climax, he (or she) united them in marriage by the Indian law and afterward the Indian interpretation of the 23rd Psalm was explained by the big chief, Mrs. Liedke. To those who have witnessed an Indian ceremonial marriage, the beauty of the event is unsurpassed by none, the rites as performed by the participants and the solemnity of each and every part of the ritual. To add to the balance of the entertaining occasion, Mrs. Liedke gave three comic readings for the amusement of the guests and each was presented in costume indicative of the reading. For the afternoon session, Mrs. Beck again opened the meeting and then turned it over to Mrs. Mabel Ives, mistress of ceremonies, who presented an original pageant honoring the past presidents from 1923 to 1948. Telephone Group Organize Club, Name Officers About 75 employees of the traffic department of the Pacific Telephone and Telegraph company of this city met in the patio of Minnie Stanley at 511 South Illinois street, Thursday evening of last week for a hamburger barbecue and to formulate plans for a social club. A most enthusiastic response to the idea was shown by the gathering and plans were started for the permanent organization of a club to further the social life among their employees and fellow workmen. Officers named at the initial meeting were Joan Guss, president; Agnes Smith, vice-president, Marian Hunsaker, secretary, and Roma Tedford, treasurer. Committees were named to formulate the working program and to set up the entertainment for the group.
