In deciding to make the change the board explained in the minutes of its meeting: “Increased housing in the section, increased traffic hazard on Los Angeles street, and fact that school facilities will have to be used to the limit in order equalize the pupil load per teacher were all factors in causing the tendance area to be changed. “Parents whose children will tend this school are asked to the building... They will find rooms in this building bright cheerful and they will be equipped with the same equipment as other schools. One class room may be used for activity work, front of the building, used as classroom rooms, may be converted into a comfortable auditorium complete with stage and dress rooms, or can be used for community programs and P.T. meetings.” LAKE'S MEN'S WEAR 225 W. British Buy More Orange Concentrate The British Food Ministry last weekend ordered an additional 100,000 gallons of orange concentrate from the Exchange Orange Products company. This latest order raised the total amount the Food Ministry has on order from EOP to 400,000 gallons. The order was accepted at $3.10 per gallon, the same price as was made on the previous order. It is estimated 8000 tons of Valencia oranges will be required to bake apples. 4 apples ½ cup brown sugar ½ teaspoon cinnamon ½ cup seeded raisins 4 teaspoons soft butter or margarine ½ cup water Granulated sugar The best apple for baking is one that holds its shape and yet bakes through thoroughly. Winesap, McIntosh, Jonathan and Wealthy are best. Wash and carefully core apples. Peel ½ of the skin away from the blossom end. This will keep the skin from bursting and the apples stand up pertlike. Mix the brown sugar, cinnamon, raisins and butter or margarine. Now pack this in the cores of the apples. The more you stuff in, the better the flavor of this dessert. Put the apples on a rack in the bottom of a skillet. Add water, cover and steam very slowly for 50 minutes or until apples can be pierced easily with a fork. Sprinkle a little sugar on each apple and place in the broiler for just a few minutes until there is a beautiful glaze. Serve them hot or cold with cream to 4 real apple lovers. The British Food Ministry last weekend ordered an additional 100,000 gallons of orange concentrate from the Exchange Orange Products company. This latest order raised the total amount the Food Ministry has on order from EOP to 400,000 gallons. The order was accepted at $3.10 per gallon, the same price as was made on the previous order. It is estimated 8000 tons of Valencia oranges will be required to produce the additional 100,000 gallons of concentrate. This additional order, the Exchange says, may have some effect upon the natural strength juice canning program at EOP. In the event fruit supplies run short, preference will be given the concentrate use. This might result in reducing EOP's natural strength juice output this season to around half a million cases. This is a small amount in comparison to the estimated citrus juice production from all states of over 50 million cases this year. Prices on canned Texas and Florida citrus juices are still very low and the Exchange management believes the concentrate outlet to be the more desirable of the two.
