Keep your Beauty up to date with one of our long lasting season-fashionable permanents moulded into a hair style to Realty Board Resumes Meetings After Vacation Starting the fall and winter meetings with an excellent attendance, members of the Anaheim Realty Board met at the Dorothy-Wade restaurant on Monday evening following the summer vacation. To add to the occasion, a number of wives of members were present for the opening session. Great interest was shown in the reports made by the members when reviewing the various meetings they attended during the summer as representatives of the local board. Announcement was made that a member of the local board, Edwin Pendleton of O'Grady Realty, has been nominated for the office of Regional Vice-President of the 12th District. Presidents and chairmen of all Orange county boards recently met at Newport Beach at the office of Ralph Maskey, 1948 Regional Vice-President of the 12th District, and also president of the Chamber of Commerce of Newport Beach. At this meeting plans for a membership campaign were outlined. To conclude the session, all attending members were taken on a trip through the great Newport harbor area on Maskey's private cabin cruiser. Big plans are being made for the state convention of the California Real Estate Association to be held in Oakland, October 4 to 7 inclusive. Edwin Pendleton, state director, will attend from the local board, as will Frances Backs, secretary, serving as alternate for president John Pickard. Pair to Face Narcotic Charge Frank M. Venegas, 31, of Placentia and Ruben G. Grijalva, 19, of La Jolla camp were to be arraigned tomorrow on charges in connection with possession of marijuana. The pair were arrested late last week in Fullerton as the result of two months of work by agents of the state narcotics squad, Lieut. Tommy Taylor of Anaheim and Lieut. William Hovell of the Fullerton police department. Charges against Benny G. Alvarez of La Jolla camp who was taken into custody at the same time were later dismissed. SERVING WITH NAVAL FIGHTING SQUADRON III Howard F. Still of Anaheim aviation chief machinist’s mate USN, is serving with Fightin Squadron One Hundred Eleven which has just been awarded to Battle Efficiency Pennant and “E” for its general excellence throughout the fiscal year July 1947 to July 1, 1948. As a member of the squadron Still is qualified to wear the “E” badge on uniform, an old peacetime practice revived by the Navy with the recent award which is competitive based on overall battle efficiency Factors incident to squadron operations including administrative efficiency, appearance of personnel, performance of pilots and aircraft in gunnery, rockets bombing and instrument waving were considered. So Easy to Shop and Save in Anaheim. Psychiatrist's Report Asked by Court on Flint Pending arraignment of Mrs. Thelma L. Fusha, 22, and Ralph D. Flint on a charge of murdering Mrs. Fusha’s 18-month old son which has been set for tomorrow in the court of Superior Judge Franklin G. West, Judge West has asked for a psychiatrist's report on Flint. S. B. Kaufman of Anaheim has been retained as an associate of Attorney Hugh Gordon to defend Mrs. Fusha. Indications this week were that Public Defender N. D. Meyer would act as counsel for Flint. An indictment of Flint and Mrs. Fusha was returned last weekend by the Orange county grand jury. There are only about four billion acres of arable land left in the world today — not all of it good — which must feed a world population of about two billion. "HANK" SAYS ... The first Orange county applicant for enlistment in the Women's Army Corps, recently made a part of the regular United States Army, and in which women with or without prior military service may now enlist, Patricia L. Starkey, charming daughter of Mrs. Martha E. Starkey, 320 West First street, signed up for three years service. Graduated in 1947 from the Santa Ana high school where she was president of the Girl's Athletic Association, Miss Starkey enrolled in Santa Ana Junior college and for some time was engaged in sales work for the Superior Sales Company. An ardent sports enthusiast, she enjoys tennis and softball and in 1945 was the winner of the southern California diving championship. She is interested in a Medical Corps assignment and plans on receiving training so as to qualify as a surgical technician. Applications are now being taken at all Army and Air Force recruiting stations for enlistment in both the Women's Army Corps (WAC) and the Women's Air Force (WAF). Applicants must meet high standards of character, health and education. Non-veterans must be high school graduates and all applicants must be between ages of 18 to 35 years. Complete information may be obtained at the local recruiting office. September 18, is Air Force Day. On Air Force Day millions of Americans will have an opportunity freer than the air over the of its citizens. Not one per the United States is beyond reach of hostile wings. Every individual should be ested in the men of our Air and the important job they to do. McKEE SISTERS APPEAR ON TELEVISION PROGRAM The McKee sisters, Pat, age 13, and her 5-year-old twin sisters, Mary and Margie, daughters of Mrs. Jessie McKee of 539 South Resh street, this city, were guest artists on the “Hollywood Opportunity” program on television station KTLA last Thursday evening, Sept. 9, for the 8 p.m. show. These young ladies are students of Mrs. Val Moore, who has recently returned from the Hawaiian Islands where she received instruction in more native dances of the island. Four other students of the studio are scheduled to appear on television in the near future. Before the show, Mrs. Moore and the young ladies were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Black, 6442 La Mirada, Hollywood. LOCAL MAN COMPLETES INDUSTRIAL COURSE Robert W. Richard, 543 South Ohio street, Anaheim, recently completed a 30-week resident course of training in refrigeration and air conditioning under the G. I. Bill of Rights at the Industrial Training Institute, Chicago, Illinois, it was announced by E. L. Freshwater, director of student activities. Obtaining a marriage license were Elias F. Sanchez of Anaheim and Lorenza Mendoza of Placentia late last week at the county court house in Santa Ana.
