He will be in the nation's capitol as aide to National Chairman Herbert Brownell all during the election campaign. He will not return to the county until after the November 2 balloting. Richmond's appointment stemmed from his record in county and state political affairs, then as one of the two California members of the Republican National Convention's platform and resolutions committee, on which he authored the tidelands plank. Gov. Warren personally requested Richmond's help and so the Orange attorney agreed to shelve his law business and personal affairs to enter the national campaign. U.S. Senator William F. Knowland, handling Gov. Warren's California campaign and head of the national delegation, had sought Richmond's services for some weeks, it was learned. Richmond, long active in politics, has served as chairman of the Orange County and California State Republican central committees; he now is president of the California Republican Assembly. He was Orange city attorney for several years. DINKLER CATCHES BIGGEST ALBACORE "Pop" Dinkler won the aquatic jack pot during Tuesday's regular charter boat trip of local Izaak Waltons. He nabbed an albacore weighing just two ounces under 30 pounds. Next Tuesday ends this season's scheduled trips for the Anaheim anglers, however, it is expected individual parties will be arranged due to the run of larger albacore in nearby coastal waters. At a meeting of the board of supervisors, all bids were returned unopened thereby signifying their rejection by that body. County officials indicated that a suit might be filed to determine the issue! A Los Angeles firm, O'Melveney and Meyers, specializing in such matters, recommended rejection of the bids. The firm had refused approval of the issue because of a technical error in advertising. County counsel Joel Ogle said the original call for election on the 20-year bonds provided for payment of interest semi-annually for one year with annual interest payments in succeeding years. In the call for bids from bond houses, however, interest payments were specified as annually. Unless the objections of the legal firm are resolved, a superior court action to settle the dispute is indicated by the county counsel. Enlistments Are Limited, Says Sgt. Loeffelhardt One year enlistments in the Army of the United States which were authorized by the Selective Service Act are now open on a limited quota for the month of September, according to an announcement by M/Sgt. H. E. Loeffelhardt, local Recruiter. Applicants will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Due to the small quota allocated to this area, young men, now 18 years of age, who are interested, are urged to make application promptly at the local office, 128 South Los Angeles, Anaheim.
