LA HABRA NEWS
Miss Esther Louise Ridgway, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Ridgway of La Habra, and Stanley E. Cramer, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Cramer of Fullerton, were married Thursday evening, June 17, in the Fullerton First Methodist church. The double ring service was read by Rev. J. Maxwell Chamberlin. Escorted to the altar by her father, the bride was lovely in white satin made with train and trimmed with chantilly lace. Her tulle veil fell from a tiara of stephanotis and her bridal bouquet was of white orchids, roses and stephanotis surrounded by lace.
Miss Joyce Rider of North Hollywood, maid of honor, wore ice blue organdy and carried pale pink fuchsias and carnations tied with tulle. The bridesmaids, whose frocks were fashioned like Miss Rider's and ranged in tone from pale blue to a deep delphinium blue, were Miss Barbara Goodsen of Covina, Miss Dorothy Zeider of Fullerton, Miss Virginia Cramer of Fullerton and Mrs. William Hunstock of Los Angeles. They carried deep rose fuchsias with matching flower tiaras. Little Miss Hanet Harris, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Harris of La Habra, who was flower girl, was dressed like the maid of honor.
George Cramer served as his brother's best man. Ushers were Jay Roundy of Bellflower, Robert Stillwell of Compton, Randall How of Fullerton and Vernoid.
Dan The Bread Man Says
Use left-over bread in tempting bread puddings, for croutons to perk up soup dishes, as bread crumbs to garnish casseroles.
Dress up breakfast-fare by serving crisp French toast with jam or sprinkle powdered sugar on top. Or try this treat for breakfast: Place baker's sweet rolls or sliced coffee cake on a cookie sheet and heat in the oven. Serve with dabs of butter or margarine. Heated bakery rolls are delicious!
For an added note of interest to main course dishes, serve a variety of baker's rolls with tempting spreads. Choose poppy seed, salt sticks, parker-house and hard or soft rolls from your grocery bakery goods counter while marketing.
For that mid-night snack, prepare tangy cinnamon toast to serve with fresh fruit and milk. Toast the bread in the oven, butter, use sugar and a generous sprinkling of cinnamon for extra appeal.
Luncheon salads are extra satisfying when served with melba toast as an accompaniment. To prepare: Remove crusts from enriched white bread, cut in half and bake until golden brown.
Veterans May Get Medals at Office
The U. S. Army and U. S. Air Force Recruiting Service, 128 South Los Angeles, Anaheim, has received a supply of campaign medals for issue to Army and Air Corps personnel who served in the American, Asiatic-Pacific or European African Middle Eastern Theatres during World War II.
According to Master Sergeant Henry E. Loeffelhardt, in charge of recruiting in this area, these medals can be obtained by calling at the Army and Air Force Recruiting office. The original copy of the Veteran's discharge must

Summer menus are interesting and easy to prepare when homemakers take advantage of quickie dishes and the friendly baker or grocer who supplies bread, rolls, sweet buns and a tempting variety of delicious desserts.
The old adage that a word to the wise is sufficient will really hit home on this one.
In spite of the fact that the new 70 group Air Force plan is now law, the Air Force has tightened its qualifications for enlistment and on top of that they have set up a very rigid quota.
The quota for the entire Orange county area is but a scant fifteen men per month. As you can easily see, only the cream of the crop can make the U. S. Air Force their career.
We feel that this quota will be filled at the end of the first week, so if it's the Air Force you want and you think you are qualified, come in and see us.
Don't wait too long, fellows as it won't take long until the quota

Call to Arms

referred her to higher authorities, and she received a letter stating she was disqualified.
Reasoning behind the edict, the office explained to Miss Ingalsbe, was that she was supposed to be attired so she could apply for a job immediately.
"But they didn't have any job to offer me," she said. "If they had, I could have gone home and changed in five minutes!" she lives only a few blocks from the employment office.
James G. Bryant, director of the department, said he knew of no rule which prohibited the wearing of a "bare midfriff" when applying for unemployment insurance.
"I'll look into it immediately," said Bryant, as Miss Ingalsbe prepared to file an appeal.

Here is a real break for members of the Enlisted Reserve Corps in the southern California U. S. Army and U. S. Air Force recruiting district.
Vacancies exist in the southern California district for Enlisted Reservists holding the military full and when its full, that's all there is.
A long time ago one of our presidents, Teddy Roosevelt to be precise, made this slogan his occupational specialties of clerk-typist (405), classification and assignment (275), personnel consultant (289), medical technician (409) or medical laboratory technician (858) for assignment to the recruiting main stations located in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Bernardino and Santa Barbara.
Another item that makes this hard to beat is that qualified men recalled to active duty will enter service with their present enlisted reserve corps rank. Members of the ERC who are recalled will also be eligible for promotion if they are qualified and the vacancy exists.
These are permanent assignments within the southern California district and the normal active duty time element, nine to twelve months will apply, with an option for extension by the volunteer.
The deadline for filling these 61 vacancies is the 20th of June, so get in early for the good seats and come in and talk it over.
Bare Midriff
Bars Girl from Jobless Pay
(Western News Service)
When girls wear "bare midriff" outfits, they can't collect unemployment insurance, the state department of employment has ruled.
The question of attire and insurance came up when Helen "Pat" Ingalsbe, former classified advertising salesgirl for a Sacramento newspaper, called at the Sacramento office to collect her unemployment insurance. She was wearing a sports outfit which she described as "having a high neckline, but no middle."
