Anaheim Given Play in Map Of All-Year Club
Anaheim is featured as one of the focal points for southern California tourists in a new and colorful official sightseeing map brought out this week by the All-year Club of Southern California.
The All-Year Club is the community-sponsored organization for building up the state's profitable tourist industry, which has brought one billion dollars of out-of-state tourists' spendings into the area since the end of the war.
In quantities of hundreds of thousands, the new map will be distributed to the arriving tourists.
Purpose of the map is to spread the visitors out over all parts of southern California. This, according to the All-Year Club, has been accomplished by a combination of beautiful four-color illustrations and a practical, utility design which has never been attempted in a sightseeing map before.
In colors, a topographically-indicated pleasure map of all southern California shows all the points of scenic and vacation interest on ocean, seashore, valley, mountain, desert, and in metropolitan areas. Special shadings of the highways denotes those of greatest tourist interest.
Clever cartographs illustrate the various activities and sights which each area has for out-of-state visitors.
Each of the 11 southern counties, and the points of interest within it, is described in a separate section of the text accompanying the map.

Wilfred Steven J. Sargent of Whittier and Betty Jean Hart of Buena Park, were issued a marriage license at the county court house in Santa Ana last Thursday.
They also serve as "good-will ambassadors" to help take the visitors' mind off the luggage inspection which is so vital to the protection of the area's agriculture.

Fears of possible pollution of the San Joaquin Valley's vast underground water supply through sewer wells and oil well waste disposal sumps were expressed at a hearing called by a legislative fact-finding committee in Fresno December 9 and 10.
The meeting was called by Assemblyman Bandal F. Dickey, committee chairman, and government officials from Kern, Kings, Tulare, Fresno, Madera, Merced, Stanislaus, Tuolumne, Calaveras, and San Joaquin counties attended the meeting.
While dams of the San Joaquin Valley impound less than 3,000,000 acre feet of water, there are some 20,000,000 acre feet underground, Dickey said, and "we must take steps to guard this subterranean supply."
Witnesses from the Fresno area indicated they will ask new well-diggers legislation considered by the committee.
