The carload of calves were brought into California from a widely known Aberdeen Angus farm in eastern Iowa and the bank financed the boys in the purchase of the calves. The hope was that the boys would receive a helpful lesson in cattle feeding and doing business with a bank and would be able to pay off their notes with money they won as prizes at the Great Western Livestock Show and from subsequent sale of the critters. Mayor Boosts TB Work With Proclamation In a proclamation issued this week Mayor Charles Pearson urged all Anaheimers to have x-ray chest examinations and to buy Christmas Seals to help finance the work of the Orange County Tuberculosis and Health association. The proclamation: WHEREAS, tuberculosis takes 53,000 lives in our country each year and kills more people between 15 and 45 years of age than any other disease and WHEREAS, tuberculosis is a communicable disease, spread from person to person, WHEREAS, the Orange County Tuberculosis Association is waging an effective campaign to control tuberculosis and, as part of its case-finding program, advocates that every adult have a periodic chest X-ray and WHEREAS, all activities of the association are supported by the sale of Christmas Seals. THEREFORE, I, the Mayor of Anaheim do recommend that the people cooperate with the Orange County Tuberculosis and Health Association by having a chest X-ray and by the generous purchase of Christmas Seals. Strudthoff Death Last Friday Arthur Paul Strudthoff, 37 years of age, passed away early last Friday morning at an Orange hospital following an illness with a lung congestion. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Rutherford of Vista, Calif., and Mrs. John W. Yates of Anaheim, and one brother, Adolph Strudthoff of Anaheim.
