Have You Seen This Boy Missing Since Sept. 16? A distracted father and mother, a sister and two aged grandparents this week sought the help of the public in a search for Richard Hugh Elwood, 16, who disappeared from his home over a month ago. The family has given The Gazette this description of the missing boy: "Richard Hugh Elwood, 16 . . . is tall and thin, 6 feet 2 inches, weighs 143 pounds, has wavy brown hair, large brown eyes, long lashes, a very slight jagged scar on his left forehead, and small ears. He needs glasses when driving, or in the theatre. Most likely he will be wearing brown oxfords, corduroys, a T shirt or a wool plaid shirt. He also had in his possession a navy type pea coat and a tan gabardine hunting cap with brown woolly earflaps and a brown and white paper suitcase. Unusually goodlooking, genial and a willing worker, Richard Elwood has Social Security card Potato Growers Asked to Submit Data for 1948 Counties are directed to accumulate information for the establishment of 1948 Potato Goals this month, according to Roy L. Hale of Placentia, chairman of the Orange County Agricultural Conservation Committee. This means that all information must be filed in the county office, Santa Ana, not later than October 24, Hale stated, in order to have the compiled data in the state office by the end of the month. Data is already in the office for all growers who had goals estab-lished, for the 1947 potato pro-gram, Hale stated, and explained that there are no data for those who may be planning to grow potatoes for the first time in 1948. Neither are there records for those who have recently come to this county and wish to apply their personal potato history for the ob-taining of a 1948 goal. It is absolutely necessary for all growers who wish to partici-pate in the potato price support program in 1948, or who think they may want to participate, to file their data in the county office before October 24, Hale conclu-ed, as the goal for the county will be allocated from the state goal on the basis of the data submitted this month. Therefore it will not who do not have a history on file with the county committee as be possible to grant a goal to those stated above. He is a sophomore." The family car, a Chrysler New Yorker sedan, was discovered in good condition, by police in Las Vegas, Nevada, on September 21, where residents stated it had been parked for three days. No one observed a person leaving the car or anyone returning to it. The youth's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. H. "Mike" Elwood of 12830 Hanover street, Brentwood Park, Los Angeles, cannot understand why their son, who is exceedingly fond of driving, would leave the car in Las Vegas. They fear that Richard believes it was stolen instead of being safely returned to them. Richard has been identified in Blythe, California, where he was known to have hitch-hiked with another youth into Arizona. He was also seen in Phoenix, Arizona as late as October 5. Anxious to contact their son so he will know everything is all right at home, and desperately concerned as to his welfare, the parents urge anyone knowing Richard's whereabouts to telephone them collect at Santa Monica 50096, or wire 12830 Hanover Street, Los Angeles 24, at once.
