There are a lot of things we take for granted. Like the churches, and the railroads and the telephone. We just expect them to be there when we want them. Can't imagine their not being there.
The Exchange is like that. Been going on so long we just accept it. Whether we belong to it or not we count on it—depend on it.
If a new pest appears that threatens the industry, we know the Exchange will find out all about it and lead the attack. If there's a car shortage, or a rate increase or a new government regulation, we know the Exchange will obtain a hearing and present the facts and figures for the industry.
We don't think about it or worry. We just expect the Exchange to be there, going along on its own momentum or some energy that keeps it going.
We forget that the Exchange is just people. Growers, like yourself, giving of their time—and money—to do these things for the industry.
If you're a grower, and not in the Exchange, think what it would mean to you if there wasn't an Exchange. Aside from the fact that you'll make more money in the Exchange than out of it—it deserves your support.
Next report two weeks from today.

Housewives Asked To Join in Aid To Handicapped
Housewives of Orange county are given a chance to participate in this week's community-wide observance of National Employ the Physically Handicapped Week, George F. Angne, executive secretary of the Goodwill Industries of Orange county, said.
The secretary urged that women check up on the "number of jobs for handicapped people that are stored in attics and closets." It was pointed out that every time a Goodwill Truck stops at an Orange county home to pick up a contribution of some discarded articles, a few more hours of work are available for some handicapped person.
Worn out, out-moded, and no longer useful clothing, shoes and other discarded articles mean jobs and rehabilitation training opportunities for handicapped men and women, Angne added. To have a Goodwill truck call at your home, phone Zenith 2046 or Anaheim 3826 in the Anaheim area.
The Goodwill Industries is joining this week all the other federal and private rehabilitation agencies, educational organizations and churches to call the public's attention to the needs of the 28,000,000 handicapped people in America.
