Known technically as the Driver Testing Research Unit, the “Safetymobile” is a development of the club’s public safety department, and has been designed specifically to alert motor vehicle operators to their physical limitations in driving and to collect research data on “accident-prone” motorists. Seven special devices are installed within the mobile unit to analyze such driving factors as distance judgment, visual acuity, glare resistance and recovery, color vision, hand coordination and steadiness, peripheral vision and reaction time.
