National City Couple Plight Troth in Church Ceremony
Radiant in white satin and marquisette, Miss Jean Richardson, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. R. D. Richardson of National City, became the bride of Leslie O. Tigh, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Tigh, also of National City, in formal rites solemnized Wednesday, October 1, at 8 o'clock in the evening in the sanctuary of Lincoln Acres Community church, Lincoln Acres, Calif., with the bride's father reading the double-ring ceremony before more than 250 close friends and relatives. The bride is a cousin of Mrs. Earl Nellesen (nee Joyce Kopfer) of this city.
The couple plighted their troth before an altar arranged with two large baskets of gladioli and dahlias flanked by lighted cathedral candles against a background of similax and fern which also decorated the church's windows. Lighted tapers marked the bridal party's path down the aisle.
Enhancing the bride's loveliness was her gown fashioned with a white satin bodice designed with long sleeves and fitted bodice and contrasting with a full skirt of white marquisete ending in a long train. A long veil of marquisette cascaded over her gown. Her only adornment was a double strand of pearls, a gift from the bridegroom. Traditional sentiment was found in a dainty handkerchief of her grandmother which she carried.
Given in marriage by her grandfather, E. G. Kopfer of Encinitas, the bride carried a bouquet with a gardenia center surrounded by white shattered carnations and stephanotis.
Matron of honor was Mrs. Mary Brown. Her gown was designed with a pink lace bodice and full skirt of matching net. She carried a bouquet of white Esther Reids and delphinium.
bridegroom, Mrs. Tigh, was attired in a gray ensemble accented with black accessories and a corsage of apricot gladioli.
In an atmosphere of pink and white blossoms, the reception was held in the church parlor. Mrs. Velma Yenawine, sister of the bridegroom, presided for the hostess duties and was assisted by women of the church. Mrs. Earl Nellesen, of Anaheim, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Kopfer, of Fullerton, was in charge of the guest book, registering 150 guests.
After cutting and sharing the first piece of their three-tiered wedding cake topped with a miniature bride and groom standing under a wedding bell, the young couple left for a short honeymoon of undisclosed destination.
For traveling the bride chose a gray and wine ensemble worn with black accessories and the gardenia corsage from her wedding bouquet.
Rev. and Mrs. Richardson are former residents of Anaheim. The bride attended Katella elementary school and is a graduate of Sweetwater Union high school.
Her bridegroom is an electrician. During the recent war he served with the Canadian navy. Upon their return, the newlyweds will reside in National City.
