Bryant, chairman of the California Employment Stabilization Commission. "While the intensified campaign has only been carried on in the Sacramento Valley for the past three weeks and in the San Joaquin Valley for the past four weeks, it is evident that the department's program is achieving results," Bryant declared. "The unemployment insurance claim load in the Sacramento Valley has decreased about 15 per cent and by about 5 per cent in the San Joaquin Valley," Bryant stated. "This includes both claims for state unemployment insurance and for G.I. benefits, and is accounted for mostly by failure of claimants to return for their checks." "About ninety possible fraud cases are now being processed in both valleys and about twelve complaints have so far been actually filed with prosecuting authorities in valley cities," Bryant declared. "In addition, restitution of jobless benefits is being obtained in about 180 additional cases where no evidence of legal fraud was apparent," he stated. "It is anticipated that the intensified campaign will continue in both the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys for the balance of the summer," Bryant stated.
