SOCIAL AND CLUB ACTIVITIES Sharon Jones, the flower girl, was clad in a frock of pink satin fashioned identically with that of the bride. Serving as best man was John Bruce. Don Bower and Jerry Franks were the ushers. More than 200 close friends and relatives gathered for the reception immediately following the ceremony in the garden. The bride's mother, Mrs. Moore, chose a pink formal and an orchid corsage for the occasion. Mother of the bridegroom, Mrs. Wilson, was attired in a brown formal and had a corsage of pink roses. Assisting with the reception arrangements were Miss Kay Wilson and Mrs. Pauline Boyd. After cutting and sharing the first piece of their five tiered pink-iced cake, the newlyweds left for a nine-day honeymoon trip to San Francisco and Yosemite. For traveling the bride chose a gray suit accented with black accessories and the white orchid from her bridal bouquet. The bride, well known in this vicinity, is a graduate of Anaheim Union high school. Her bridegroom, who served in the Navy during the recent war, is also a graduate of Anaheim Union high school and attended Santa Ana Junior college. He will be a student in Woodbury's college this fall. The couple will reside in Pasadena upon their return. Glamour Keynotes Fall Fashions ing a pencil-line profile. Kuipers, 519 East Chartres street, Anaheim, daughter of Mrs. C. F. Kuipers of 189 Purchase street, Rye, New York, became the bride of Warren C. Heckman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry H. Heckman, 519 East Chartres street, Anaheim, Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock, in St. Boniface Catholic church, Father James Gallagher, reciting the nuptial Mass. The young couple repeated their marriage vows before an altar decorated with white flowers, lighted cathedral candelabra and flanked by potted palms. White bows marked the pews. The bride wore a gown of white Mousseliene de Soisse trimmed with hand-made lace. Three Hawaiian orchids blended with bouvardia and satin streamers graced her white Bible. Mrs. W. L. Schutz was the matron of honor. She wore a gown of white net and carried a colonial nosegay bouquet of pink carnations and lavender sweetpeas. Her head dress was of white net. A graduate of Rye high school, Rye, New York, the bride is an alumnus of Berkeley Secretarial college, New York City. Her bride-groom, an alumni of Anaheim Union high school, is attending the University of California at Berkeley. He is a former ensign in the United States Navy. Upon their return they will reside in Berkeley. Out of town guests attending the ceremony included Mr. and Mrs. William Spencer of San Mateo; Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Rohl of San Francisco, brother and sister-in-law of Mrs. H. H. Heckman; Gene Van Flett of San Francisco, and Mr. and Mrs. George B. Heckman of Elsinore. Class Celebrates Three Birthdays Three birthdays were celebrated during the annual anniversary picnic of the S. C. Hartranft Sunday school class of the First Presbyterian church, Anaheim, in the city park Tuesday. Those honored were S. C. Hartranft on the occasion of his eighty-eighth birthday that day, Dr. J. S. Scott who was 81 August 10 and W. J. Ellott who marked his eighty-first anniversary August 2. A guest, Dr. John R. Scott of Texas, Dr. J. S. Scott's brother, will celebrate his eighty-fifth birthday this month also, it was disclosed. Mrs. Hildred Ferrell, president, presided over the business session. Plans were made for the charter dinner, to be held in the first week of October. Guest speaker will be Thelma James, Altrusa executive from Los Angeles, it was disclosed. Committee chairmen named include Carrie Lou Sutherland, program coordinator; Helen Kaulbars, by-laws; Dorothy Bowe, classification; Gertrude Hagerty, extension and membership; Thelma Silzle, finance; Margaret Wright, publicity; Doris Desch, education; Frances Dehlsen, international; Ruth Phelps, non-partisan and public affairs; Edith Holsinger, vocational information, and Carmen Lizarraga and Dorothy Parker, decorations. Altrusa chapter project for the year and special programs were discussed. A vote on program outline will be taken at the next meeting it was announced. Enjoy Scenic Mexico Trip Flying 400 miles south of the border down the Gulf of Mexico were Pilot Jack Gregg and his passenger, Carl Luebkemen, traveling in Gregg's Cessna. Leaving the field at Fullerton early last Thursday, the duo crossed the border at Tucson, Arizona. They stopped in Nogales, then Hermacill and spent two days in La Paz on the tip of the peninsula, Baja, California. Their first night was spent in Guaymas. Two days were enjoyed in Obergon, 400 miles below the border on the Baja California gulf. There, assisted by a rented motor boat and heavy tackle, they nabbed two sailfish. Luebkemen's specimen tipped the scales at 172 pounds, and Gregg's weighed 168 pounds. A 30 inch by 14 inch land turle shell, well polished, was brought home by Gregg as a souvenir. Rumor has it that his mother, Mrs. Calvin Gregg, plans to make a sewing basket out of it. Complete Classes In Swimming At AUHS Plunge Beginners, intermediate, swimmers and advanced swimmers certificates were issued to students enrolled in classes taught by Irwin North, Jr., water safety instructor, who is employed by the Anaheim chapter of the American Red Cross, in the Anaheim Union high school pool. The certificates were presented last week. Those receiving advanced swimmers cards included Kathleen Brunet, Anna Lou Daly, Mary Jean Bushman and Alberta Simeon. Swimmers certificates were given to Beverly Buckner, Margaret Cain, Anna Lou Daly, Dick Grover, Al Heiden, Barbara Horn, Paul Grover, Jim Kersten, Melton Peters, Rose Mary Poyet, Nancy Seekins, Shirley Seekins, Mrs. Florence Winters and Darlene Fitz.
