Nine Easter Services at White Temple Church

White Temple Choir Vespers Easter Sunday
Easter vespers, to follow the evening Communion, will begin at 7:15 o'clock, with Burk directing the outstanding Temple choir of 40 voices. Opening selections will include Keating's "Sing Alleluias" with soprano and alto duet by Gania Demaree and Joyce Bestall; "Where You There?" spiritual, by the choir; and Howe's "In the Cross of Christ We Glory" with soprano and bass duet by Loretta Franzen and Bill Talevich. Following an Easter meditation by the Rev. Mr. Sears, the final porch service for Good Friday is scheduled.

Special Easter season services at St. Michael's Episcopal church this month began yesterday, (Wednesday) with evening prayer and sermon. In addition to the 10 o'clock Holy Communion service held this morning, Maundy Thursday, evening Communion and sermon will begin at 7:30 o'clock.

St. Michael's Easter Program Plans Complete
Special music and religious notation of the Easter season has been planned for the Easter Sunday services at St. Michael's Episcopal church, according to the Rev. John Kimball Saville, rector. For the family Festal-Carol service beginning at 9:30 Easter morning, following customary communion services beginning at 6 a.m., members of the church school will bring flowers with which to build a flower cross, a ritual symbolic of the sacred significance of the cross on which Christ was crucified. At the same time, church school members will return their missionary mite boxes which the members have filled with coins to be used to aid the destitute children of the Philippine Islands.
The Junior choir, under the direction of Mrs. Juanita Ross, will sing, "The Christ Arose" by Robert Lowry, for the musical portion of the 9:30 o'clock service.
Following the flower procession, there will be a special treat program for the nursery and kindergarten in the Parish house.
"Thanks Be to God Which Gives Us the Victory" has been chosen for the sermon theme for the 11 a.m. sermon-program. The communion music will be according to medieval plain song style. The senior choir, under the direction of Robert Smart, will sing two special numbers: The Introit, "Up Up My Heart" by J. S. Bach.
For St. Michael's
Special Easter season services at St. Michael's Episcopal church this month began yesterday, (Wednesday) with evening prayer and sermon. In addition to the 10 o'clock Holy Communion service held this morning, Maundy Thursday, evening Communion and sermon will begin at 7:30 o'clock.
The traditional three-hour service for Good Friday is scheduled from 12 to 3 o'clock at the church. On holy Saturday a special Baptismal service will be held beginning at 3:30 in the afternoon.
Easter Sunday services will open with Holy Communion at 6:30 and 8 o'clock in the morning. At 9:30 o'clock the family carol service will begin. The Choral Eucharist and sermon will be at 11 o'clock in the morning.

A special invitation is extended to all members of the church to attend the family worship service at 9:15 o'clock. The pastor, the Rev. Hayden Swiftears, will speak on the topic "Christ of the Road." Music will be interpreted by the two younger church choirs. The Chapel Choir, directed by Miss Gania Demaree, will sing "Jesu, Joy of Man's Deing" by Bach and the combined Chapel and Youth choir, led by Miss Demaree, will present "The Wife Is O'er" by Palestrina-Schoen. The church school, for all third grade youngsters will be held beginning at 9:15 o'clock other than 9:30 o'clock.
Rev. Mr. Sears will again preach his special Easter message at 10:45 o'clock morning service. Under the baton of George W. Hart, the Temple choir will be heard in the impressive "Hallelujah Chorus" by Handel.
At 12:30 o'clock a special service for the sacraments of the church including both infant and adult baptisms and the reception of new members will be held.
Last Supper Communion to which the entire church is invited, will be presented by the High School Methodist Youth Fellowship and the pastor, at 6 o'clock at evening. Invitational guests will be parents of MYF members. Additional symbolism will be carried out as the Communion is served around the table.

In the evening, the Young People will meet at the church at 7 o'clock to deliver Easter flowers to the sick and shut-ins after which they will return to the church for a social hour.
Wanda Burdick
Places Fourth in Oratory Contest
Miss Wanda Burdick, Anaheim Unior high school senior placed fourth in the state finals of the American Legion oratorical contest Sunday in Fresno.
State winner was Coy Greenoway, student body president of Roosevelt high school in Fresno. He will represent California in a regional contest to be held in Salt Lake City next Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Georgje Gill of 248 South West Street, Garden Grove, welcomed a baby son who arrived at St. Joseph hospital, Orange, last Saturday tipping the scales at 7 pounds, 15 ounces.

Ethelyn E. LaRue Claimed by Death
Ethelyn E. LaRue, 68 years of age, passed away at the home in Cypress on Saturday, March 29. Born in Missouri, she had been a resident of Cypress for fifty years.
The deceased was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Buena Park chapter.
Surviving are her husband, Hugh LaRue of the home; one son, Ralph A. LaRue of San Bernardino; two grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Mabel C. Fowler, of Santa Barbara, and three brothers, John Melvin of Los Angeles, Ralph and Ward Melvin, both of Illinois.
Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. William Tuthill Lewis, rector of the Episcopal church of Fullerton, in the chapel of Backs, Campbell and Kaulbars mortuary last Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment was in Little Lake cemetery at Norwalk.
