District Man Guest Of Toastmasters
District Governor of Toastmasters, Herman R. Stromer of Pasadena, former Fullerton Junior College instructor, made a surprise visit to the local groups' meeting last Monday night at the high school cafeteria. He presented a resume of present activities and the expansion accomplished by other clubs in the district.
The founder's district of which the Anaheim club is a member, extends from Pasadena as far south as Huntington Beach and from Riverside as far west as Downey.
At present there are 25 active clubs and six others to be chartered in the near future. In the United States are 22 districts each comprised of four or more areas.
"That's pretty big when you consider that there are several clubs in each area!" Stromer commented.
Future activities are highlighted by the area contest to be staged at the end of March with the best speaker of each area to be representative at the international convention slated for Minniapolis, Minn., in July.
Of special interest to the speakers is the Monday night Toastmasters' program broadcast over KXLA (1110 kc), Pasadena. With the Pasadena club acting as moderator, debates are being held from 6 to 6:30 between clubs of the district.
Vice-president Al Holve presided over the regular session. Table topic master was Royal Marten who gave the subject, "Do You Prefer the Radio or Literature for a Quiet Evening at Home?" John Knutzen was toastmaster for the evening.
Kaulbars mortuary with the Rev.
Al Casebeer, pastor of the Christian church of Anaheim, officiating. Interment will be in Pomona cemetery.
