Anaheim Man Opens Health Office Here
Anaheim is home so therefore another Anaheim man decides to go into business for himself here. That man is known to a large number of local citizens and needs no introduction in this city. Gerald W. Brackman graduated from Anaheim Union High school in 1938 and started his career in the field of Swedish massage and physiotherapy shortly after leaving school. He has just announced that he is opening an office for practice at 717 South Los Angeles street.
Graduating from the School of Swedish Massage in 1940 as a masseur, Mr. Brackman further advanced into the field of massage until now he has been admitted to the State Physiotherapist of California. He is also a graduate under the U.S. patent rights to practice chirotherapy. He has stated that he will practice mostly in massage and will use the latest method in Dierker colonics irrigation, or internal bath. He also gives eucalyptus vapor sweat baths.
Entering the service in 1943, he served in the jungles of Bengal, India. While there he worked with the natives of that country and studied their methods and ways of giving treatments to their own people. He gained much knowledge and upon leaving India, was awarded a certificate of credit by the chief doctor for doing so much for his people.
Mr. Brackman also did a great deal of physiotherapy work while in the service, working with doctors in the Army Air Corps. Since his discharge, he has been working with the medical profession in Orange county and will continue to give his full co-operation.

The manufacture of paper in Europe was first established by the Moors in Spain in the middle of the 12th century, the headquarters of the industry being Xativa, Valencia, and Toledo.
When World War II began in 1939, there were 158 persons on the United States Embassy staff in London. At the war's end, there were 276.

SUGAR CONTROLS MUST STAY, WARNS OFFICIAL
Sugar controls must be retained, according to a recent statement by Earl B. Wilson, president of California and Hawaiian Sugar Refining Corporation, Ltd., if shortages and resulting inflationary prices are to be avoided.
Pointing out that 1947 sugar supplies are to be at least one million tons short of public requirements, any sudden decontrolling of sugar would skyrocket prices and produce an actual shortage as well, he said. Joining with him in expressing concern over activities of other groups to decontrol sugar are such organizations as the California Retail Grocers and Merchants Assn., the Canners League of California and others connected with the marketing and distribution of sugar. Wilson is a former director of the Sugar Branch of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and has had wide expérience in the sugar refining field.
