Auto Glass, Parts Store Starts Year Right
Starting the New Year right, the Anaheim Auto Glass and Parts company adjoining the Anaheim Marine and Sports shop, both owned and operated by Nick Wingert, opened its doors for business January 1 at 524 and 544 South Los Angeles street in the spacious modernistic new headquarters now nearing completion. The Marine and Sports Shop located at the Southern end of the building is expected to be in full operation by next month.
The shop was located for the past two years at 124 North Angeles street, half a block from Center. The new home represents an investment of approximately $30,000.
New addition to the services offered at the Auto Glass and Parts store is a large line of Nason paints and the only Nason electric color mixer for both synthetic and lacquer automotive finish. The shop installs auto glass, mufflers, tail pipes and repairs mechanical damage to doors.
Featured at the Marine and Sports shop are Evinrude outboard motors, Foldcraft boats, the new fiberglass boats, and a large line of marine fishing equipment. Wingert will also have outboard motor winter storage, repairing and rentals when available. He is the only authorized Evinrude distributor in the Anaheim vicinity. Combined with the Foldcraft line, he will have one of the finest marine equipment shops in the county.
The building has a mezzanine office floor, a flagstone and plate glass front marked by red and rose window signs and blue and rose and gold and green neon signs. Interior decoration includes tan dado and white ceiling, brown cement flooring, and fluorescent lighting.

New steel telephone wires need fewer poles
Speeding telephone expansion in dozens of rural areas throughout the West, this new steel wire—developed by Bell Telephone Laboratories—is so strong the number of poles needed can be cut almost in half. This makes for far faster construction.
With other type wires, poles were generally placed less than 250 feet apart. Now, with the new steel wire, the distance can be extended to 400 feet or more. This is only one of many improvements now on the way. Rural users can expect fewer parties on their lines; fewer rings for other parties and the replacement of crank type telephones with modern instruments.
It all adds up to better service for the people who supply food for you and the world. And it's still another example of how, in our huge expansion program, we are working to provide a better, more far-reaching telephone service than ever before... so that the telephone steadily becomes more valuable to every user.
An ever-improving telephone service at the least cost consistent with good wages and working conditions for our employees and a reasonable return to the thousands of people who have invested in the business?
