Girl Scouts Back From Camp Leroy
The Anaheim-Fullerton Girl Scout two-week camping period at Camp LeRoy in the Sierra Madre mountains was officially terminated as 42 tanned enthusiastic scouts arrived here in two chartered buses last Monday with parents and friends at the Girl Scout house, 220 South Citron street, to welcome them and their 14 leaders.
Miss Adah Louise Wilcox was again the camp director. High tribute has been paid to Miss Wilcox, for her outstanding work for many years both as a camp director and a local scout leader by Rev. and Mrs. LeRoy Haines, owners of Camp LeRoy. With 13 volunteer leaders, Miss Florence J. Hilton, assistant director, and Mrs. J. Lee Rogers, business manager, completed the camp staff.
A total of 133 campers enjoyed the varied activities and facilities featured at the beautiful camp. Seclusive site of the camp is reached after a three-mile hike into the mountains which is marked by a racing mountain stream dividing the camp and a large swimming pool designed to blend with the natural rock setting.
Aquatics which headed the list of popular camp sports, was under the supervision of Miss Larry Firman, swimming instructor and life guard of this city.
Evenings were highlighted by many amateur theatricals and variety programs presented at the outdoor amphitheater and camp fire pit. Morning singing was also featured there.
Arts and crafts classes were directed by Miss Mildred Mauerhan and Miss Ana Claire Mauerhan, both of Anaheim with Miss Ruth Phelps, dramatics coach from Anaheim Union high school, assisting with dramatic skits and carnivals. Health of campers was carefully guarded by Mrs. Rose Daley, R. N. of Anaheim, during the first week and by Mrs. R. L. Banks, R. N. of Fullerton, during the second period. Other volunteer leaders included Mrs. Joe Mason, Miss Doris Meacham, Miss Barbara Wood, all of Anaheim and R. L. Campbell, Mrs. Laura Kinietz, Miss Shirley Williams and Miss Lois Gobar, all of Fullerton.
An outstanding group of visitors enjoyed the hospitality of Camp LeRoy. During the first week honored guests making an over-night visit, included Miss Nancy Hargraves and Mrs. Eleanor Moniger, national Girl Scout representatives; Mrs. William Bushman; Mrs. L. A. Casey and Mrs. Dick Glover, both of the Anaheim council of Girl Scouts. Day visitors included Dr. and Mrs. A. M. Williams and daughter, Carol, and Mr. and Mrs. P. M. 'Jimmy' Kilduff's Colorado Trip Highly Enjoyed
Marking a wonderful vacation long to be remembered was the reunion celebration enjoyed by Mr. and Mrs. James R. Kilduff and son, Terry, 412 North Janss, who spent 10 days in Meeker, Colorado, with immediate family relatives, reminiscing after a separation of 12 years, visiting close friends and trout fishing. Kilduff, owner of the meat department at the Greater Anaheim Market, whole heartedly angled for meat. They returned from their 2,000 mile round trip last Sunday evening.
The Kilduffs stayed at the spacious home of Mrs. Kilduff's brother, S. C. Sanderson and his family at Meeker. Also visiting there were Mrs. J. E. Kilduff, of Coronado, Kilduff's mother; Tom Kilduff, and his family of Lamar, Colorado, his brother; and Howard Kilduff and his family from Meeker, his uncle.
Included among many varied activities enjoyed by the group was a authentic wild west rodeo, annual Meeker extravaganza, which "Jimmy" described as "really wild!"
"The meat situation there wasn't bad, he commented," but we didn't have to worry."
Returning to the local market this week, empty handed, after his rumored fishing conquest, 'Jimmy admitted that the proof of his success had been consumed Monday night after a frozen trip cross-country.
"Trout were hungry" says Kilduff, who boasts of a quota catch during each of four angling expeditions at White river, Colorado. Using a variety of flies ("darn things are hard to get"), he landed after his father was the drummer and leader "King's California," which...

Ted Sheridan Home From East
Returning in a shining '46 automobile after an extended trip in the east, is Ted Sheridan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Sheridan, 402 North Lemon street, who arrived here Sunday night.
Leaving by train June 10, Sheridan went to New York where he attended the wedding of one of his former buddies in the 556th Army Signal Depot, then on to Philadelphia and Washington. On his return trip, he traveled to Detroit where he became the proud owner of his new car, visited Chicago, then "headed for home."

Returning to the local market this week, empty handed, after his rumored fishing conquest,"Jimmy admitted that the proof of his success had been consumed Monday night after a frozen trip"cross-country.
"Trout were hungry" says Kilduff, who boasts of a quota catch during each of four angling expeditions at White river, Colorado. Using a variety of flys ("darn things are hard to get"), he landed respectable specimens.
Mrs. Kilduff is the owner and manager of the Children's Shop, 232 West Center street, to be remodeled as "Terry's" boys wear center. Replacing the present shop will be new modern quarters now being completed in the triplex center housing Blue Bird Drapery and Hamond's, 73 North Los Angeles street, called "The Junior Rendezvous," exclusive headquarters for young ladies from six to sixteen, with a complete baby department in the rear of the shop.
