WOMEN'S ACTIVITIES

ANNUAL EBELL FLOWER HOBBY SHOW
THRILLS RECORD CROWD TODAY
Presented before a capacity crowd Thursday, the first afternoon and evening, the first afternoon of the two-day Ebell Flower-Hobby show was acclaimed as being the most spectacular exhibition of all time.
Artistry in flower studies, punctuated with priceless hobby arrangements transformed the spacious clubhouse into a fairyland that will long be a thrilling memory to lovers of true beauty.
Only the finest in complimentst is accorded by the Ebell club to Mrs. George B. Greder, general chairman of the show; her co-chairman, Mrs. John Boege, and her "right-hand partner," Mrs. Norman Lombard, publicity, with these talented committee chairmen as follows: Mrs. R. W. Dickeson, awards; Mrs. Arthur Kemper, classifications; Miss Francis Backs, finance; Mrs. Richard Dugdale, flower arrangements; Mrs. Newman Sanford, hospitality; Mrs. George Salisbury and Mrs. Ben Kaulbars, hobbies.
Mrs. Gene Frantz, judges and visiting clubs; Mrs. Richard Glover, placements; Mrs. Milton Sell, posters; Mrs. Leon T. Gillilan and Mrs. Charles H. Mann, admissions; Mrs. M. A. Gauer, school exhibits, and Mrs. Arthur Roquet and Mrs. W. P. Hall, tickets.
Graciousness and hospitality held sway at the enchantingly appointed tea tables, with Mrs. William P. Webb and Mrs. J. F. Guthrie, duo-hostess, in charge of arrangements.
For those who missed the first day of this affair, the Ebell Flower-Hobby show will be open tomorrow from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the clubhouse on Helena street Anaheim.

To Wed Next Week
Approaching nuptials of Miss Corinne Carol Linger of Anaheim, daughter of Mrs. Mary A. Linger, 113 North Emily street, and Rev. Elmer Herman Zachay, pastor of the First Baptist church of Blythe, California, announced May 5, will be solemnized next Thursday.
The engagement was revealed at a Bethel Baptist church "sing-superational" on that date during the refreshment period with the presentation of attractive tailored announcement cards and sparkle of a solitaire gracing her third finger left hand.
Miss Linger is a graduate of Whittier college and has taken post-graduate work at the Bible seminary in New York. An accomplished musician and active church worker, she traveled in the interest of servicemen's welfare and church work in a two year nation-wide tour during the war with Virginia Brandt Berg, national president of the American League of Praying Mothers. Yes, strolling through the park is an old fashioned custom, it is a custom that will never grow old. From scores of souls land cities, Sunday drivers re their way to our parks, reason ing, Anaheim is the city of beautiful parks!
Star-studded baseball team throughout the states proclaims Palma park as their favorite spring training homes.
Our city park offers please to young and old, being a tall garden spot where recreational cilities abound, picnicking spare in abundance, sunken pool amid cool grasses are filled with gold fish and budding water lilies; and all this is surrounded with artistry in landscaping repute among all beauty enthysts.
Seen last Sunday, families pre-enading in their Easter regalia formed a colorful streamer along the park pathways. Saucer-colored youngsters with their noses fended against the fence encing the municipal plunge, looming longly at its dry floor... it won't be long until the park will be in full operation, swaing with sun and water baths.
Of course, few of us can wait for the summer months, but morrow" may be too late for proscrastinators to appreciate full glory of the blossoms that blooming "today" in Anaheim two beautiful parks.

Rebekahs Back Fund Drive for Hospital Wing
The presentation of veteran hospital fund chests by the seven Rebekah lodges in district No. 50 to Berthyle Reisinger of Anaheim Lois Rebekah lodge, district deputy president, highlighted the special meeting last Friday night in the IOOF hall, 325 West Center street at 8 o'clock. Helen Pannier, noble grand of the Lois Rebekah lodge of Anaheim, presided.
The chest proceeds will go to the building fund for a therapy wing being constructed for veterans at Yountville hospital in California.
Before the more than 200 ladies attending the affair, officers from each lodge gave unique and humorous programs, accompanying their chest presentation. These chests were distributed by Mrs. Reisinger to the lodges last July.
Special visitors included was Gladys Strop, district deputy president of the Downey lodge and Ebbie Gould, past treasurer from the grand assembly of Rebekah lodge in Missouri. They were escorted to the platform by Barbara Myers, acting conductress.
District lodges represented included the local Lois Rebekah lodge, Torosa and Sycamore lodges from Santa Ana, Acacia lodge from Huntington Beach, Fullerton lodge, Ruby lodge from Orange and Aloha lodge from Westminster.
Enjoyably concluding the district event, delicious refreshments of cookies and coffee were served by Mrs. Pannier.
Next meeting for members of Lois Rebekah will be next Friday at 8 p.m. in the IOOF hall. Program chairman will be Mrs. Arnold Howard.

During this time, she entertained in many camps and hospitals on her vibraphone, a beautiful instrument similar to the xylophone, but using electricity.
Since her return to Anaheim she has participated in CSO activities, civic church programs and in church choral work.
Her bridegroom elect, a talented pianist, graduated from Wheaton college, Illinois. He has been the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Blythe for the past three months and will receive his degree from the seminary May 7. Rev. Zachay is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Zachay of West Broadway street, Anaheim.
Following their wedding and honeymoon, the young couple will reside in Blythe, Miss Linger revealed, "in almost the only new house there!"
Trockstads Host to Family Easter
A completely perfect Easter Sunday, matched only by the glorious California sunshine, was enjoyed by their two daughters and their families when Mr. and Mrs. William H. Trockstad had a family dinner at their home at 321 South Lemon street, Anaheim.
Delicious ham dinner with all the trimmings—even butter—was served by candlelight to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Wilson, their son, Phillip, age 12, and daughter, Linda, age 7, of Burbank, and Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Phillips and son, Ronald, age 12, of Long Beach.
Their dinner table was resplendent in tones of white and yellow with lilies, daffodils and amber tapers forming the centerpiece.
Exciting feature for the children was the afternoon "egg hunt" with Linda, as winner, receiving the grand prize, a huge Easter rabbit, enthroned in a basket of bright colored eggs and candy.

MR. AND MRS. D. W. LE DUC ANNOUNCE TWO MARRIAGES IN THEIR FAMILY
Within the past week the Dean W. Le Duc of South Placentia avenue, Anaheim, have welcomed into their home a new daughter-in-law and son-in-law. On April 20, Miss Bette Le Duc became the bride of Lowell M. Mallonee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Mallonee of 512 South Resh street, Anaheim, in a single-ring ceremony solemnized by the Rev. Harold Boughton at 9:30 a.m. in the Methodist church of Las Vegas.
Miss Joan Jordan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. O. M. Jordan of this city and Harold Le Duc repeated their marriage vows on Sunday, April 14 in the Community church in Las Vegas with the Rev. Carpenter reading the ceremony at 12 noon.
Miss Le Duc was attractively ensembled for her wedding in a soft grey suit with white accessories and white camellia corsage tied with satin ribbons pinned to the lapel of her jacket. Lillian Stevens, a close friend of this city, was her only attendant, wearing a brown and white check suit with brown accessories and white corsage.
Norman O'Brien, also of Anaheim, served as best man.
The young couple plighted their troth before an altar flanked with Easter lilies and cathedral candleabra.
The bride, well known in this city, is a graduate of the Anaheim Union high school and is employed at Jackson's drug store. Her bridegroom, a recent dischargeee from the army, is employed at Mutual Citrus Products, and is also a graduate of Anaheim schools.
Following a short honeymoon trip to Balboa Island, they are now at home to friends, temporarily residing with the bridegroom's parents, awaiting completion of their new home.
The Le Duc newlyweds have been receiving congratulations for the past few days following their honeymoon trip. For her wedding of April 14 Miss Joan Jordan chose a stunning dress of printed crepe and white accessories. The couple were unattended.
A popular girl in this city, she is a graduate of Anaheim Union high school and is employed at Clarice Sportswear.
Her bridegroom receives discharge from the Army corps four months ago and owns and operates a service station on North Los Angeles He is also a graduate of An high school.
College Students To Give Melrose Abbey Concert
An enjoyable musical event presented by four outst� music majors from Reed University in Melrose chapel, next Sunday afternoon 3:00 o'clock.
Those participating are, M. Gibson, soprano; Muriel violinist; Beryl Rowley, and Lyn Smithson, both pianists.
The public is cordially invited to hear these accomplished musicians.
