OUR BOYS WITH THE COLORS Morris L. Thaxton Gets Discharge Morris Lee Thaxton, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. P. Thaxton of 116 North Resh street, this city, is home and in civilian clothes again, receiving his honorable discharge from the naval separation center at Shoemaker, Calif., on Tuesday, Feb. 19th. Serving as an aviation machinists mate third class, Morris enlisted Feb. 13, 1943 and has served overseas. He wears the Asiatic-Pacific ribbon with nine stars, the American area ribbon, World War II Victory medal, Philippines Liberation ribbon with two stars and the Good Conduct medal. He received his training at the naval base in San Diego and served on the USS New Orleans. Home After a Year Of Overseas' Duty Harold S. Rankin of 925 North Clementine street, this city, is back home again from a year of overseas duty, receiving his discharge Feb. 17. Serving as a Corporal with the 1043 Signal Co., 51st Air service group, he enlisted on Oct. 13, 1942 and spent his foreign tour of duty in Central Burma and in China. Harold wears the World War II Victory medal, American Campaign medal, Good Conduct medal and the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign medal. Harry Heckman Out of Service Harry Hickman, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. H. Heckman of 519 East Chartres street, this city, was recently discharged from the service at the separation center at Camp Beale, Calif., and has returned to Anaheim where he will remain until in the summer. He spent 32 months in the Army, 14 months of which were spent in the European and Asiatic-Pacific theaters, serving with the 1284th Engineer Combat battalion in England, France, central German campaign and in the Philippines. Harry states he hopes to continue his college education, which was interrupted by the war, with his brother, Warren, who is now serving aboard the USS Midway, but who expects to return home this summer with that much coveted discharge. Raymond H. Jordan Gets Discharge Recelving his discharge from the Navy on Dec. 22, 1946, Raymond "H" Jordan is back at home, getting readjusted to civilian life again after almost three years' service. His home is at 319 South Philadelphia street, this city. Aviation torpedoman's mate 2/c (T), USNR, Raymond wears the American Area ribbon and the Victory medal. Before entering service, he was employed with Crumm Brainard company of Whittier where he was a lathe operator. Future plans are indefinite but he is considering entering a trade school. Kenneth H. Attached to the 847th Ordnance Depot company, he saw action in the Normandy sector, northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and central Europe as a supply clerk. He also served with the 537th ordnance heavy maintenance company (field army) in European theater of operations, and worked in parts supply section handling tank and tractor parts, made out requisitions for parts needed, kept perpetual inventory files on all parts on hand, issued new parts and received old parts. He also hauled and transported parts and supplies under combat conditions over the most difficult of roads. Kenneth wears the American Campaign medal, European African Middle Eastern campaign medal, Good Conduct medal and World War II Victory medal. PEARL HARBOR, T. H.—Pfc. Walfrid Franzen of Anaheim is one of 1400 Army veterans returning to the states aboard the S. S. Kingston Victory, which left Yokohama, Japan, Feb. 6 and was scheduled to arrive in Seattle about Feb. 21. The S. S. Kingston Victory is one of the merchant marine ships which supplemented the Navy's fleet of cargo ships and transports in maintaining supply lines to island bases seized by U.
